They don't need a Bill, just an ATF decision.
Just a bunch of hot air from skallywags.

Its possible to fire very fast with a semi and no bump stock. Almost no difference in fire rate and more accurate too.

This is a bad move because of the precedent it sets.

Demonstrating the ability to cave to public pressure and outlaw something else on the road to 2Amendment abridgement.

No, they probably need a bill. The ATF can't just declare anything they want illegal, and make it stick. In the context we're discussing, the question is whether something is fully automatic or not. In the NFA, I'm pretty sure that fully automatic is defined as a weapon that will fire more than one round per trigger pull. So bump stocks, with work by allowing user to pull the trigger more rapidly, do fit the definition. Therefore they need to amend the law to make them illegal.

With bumping, isn't the trigger finger fixes and the stock recoils back to reset the trigger? So you are firing multiple rounds with one press of the trigger for the operator, is that correct?

From the bill here :

To amend title 18, United States Code, to prohibit the manufacture, possession,
or transfer of any part or combination of parts that is designed
and functions to increase the rate of fire of a semiautomatic rifle but
does not convert the semiautomatic rifle into a machinegun, and for
other purposes.

Gents, to me it sounds like one (meaning an anti-gun politician) could interpret this to include lighter triggers or short-reset triggers. Who knows what else.
Seems way too vague.

Let's ban rubber bands

When bump firing, the trigger is being depressed multiple times, one for each shot.

Entirely too vague, on top of being completely about Feel Good Legislation vs accomplishing anything of substance. It's pure Security Theatre of the highest order. It's "doing something" rather than actually accomplishing anything useful. Pointless as it gets.

Rate of Fire != Automatic or Not.

Does a .22 semi with a tube magazine with nearly zero recoil somehow deserve to be banned because it can be accurately shot faster than, say, a lever action .45-70?

What about Trigger Jobs? Because that's a key part of *exactly* what they do, allow faster and more accurate rates of fire, generally from Semi Auto firearms.

Criminalizing or regulating based upon Rate of Fire, much less confusing that with whether one is Automatic or not, would be a colossal mistake.

Support of such nonsense is entirely antithetical to conservatism or liberty or the Constitution itself, aside from the tortured language and logic that's at the very core of such terrible ideas.

Fools, those who support this.

Sounds great. They could interpret that to include the requirement for trigger pulls above 20# on all semi autos. With the added benefit to make accurate shooting impossible. What could go wrong. And how did those fools elect an anti gun republican? Oh wait, they're weasels, too.

Personally, I don’t see the need to do anything. Bump fire stocks may increase the rate of fire, but most don’t know how to control them and from all I’ve read, they tend to make the firearm unreliable. I believe I read that better than half the firearm the Las Vegas shooter had in the room were jammed. The damage this guy did had less to do with the bump fire stock and more to do with planning and strategic position. He found a way to utilize the high ground and get around whatever security the hotel/casino had in place. A better ‘safeguard’ might be to ban out door events that draw hundreds or thousands of people into one place. But then that might inhibit one’s right to assembly, huh?

I am starting to sort of agree with the Democrats on control. After the shootings of the police officer in Dallas, the Republican congressmen and the country music concert attendees in Las Vegas, I think it would be smart to restrict gun ownership for Democrats.

This is so broad that it would include the sling you use to control the barrel, get back on target, and get another round off sooner. It would include lighter springs, better triggers, better ergonomics, better sights...

So I say, don't give them an inch.

And it would be so easy, they've already got the registry they've always wanted!
