I needed a couple iPhone charging cables and refuse to pay the ridiculous prices for the Apple ones so I checked out Monoprice.

I had sworn them off a few years ago after being charged literally 2 times the price of a $7 cable for shipping. It seems as if they’ve come around and not only are they offering free shipping on many items, it seems like their prices are better too! The cables I had paid like 10+ bucks for before are now 5 bucks and change. Nice.

I have been a regular Monoprice customer for many years. If your application requires high quality cables and components, they won't have what you need, but what they do have is fine for most uses.

I got my most recent iphone charging cables at Walmart. Paid about $5 each for 6' ones as I recall and they work perfectly.

Will have to take a look was going to order another iPhone cable. Usually get them from Amazon with free shipping.

Have bought lots from monoprice and never thought shipping was bad.

All my cables anymore generally are Amazon basic.
Great price and I haven’t worn one out yet.

I have bought quite a bit from Monoprice directly. I still like their stuff but usually buy it through Amazon so I can use my Prime membership. I wonder whether their reduction in shipping cost for direct sales coincided with them selling through Amazon.

Haven't purchased in a year or so, but IIRC, the first item shipping was high, additional items didn't raise the shipping much. Ie order 1 cable shipping is $x.
Order 4 cables shipping is same $x. So a one off shipping hurts on several not so much.

Avoid bloated handling/shipping charges. Go to Walmart or best Buy.

Avoid Walmart for something like this. I would not risk blowing up a several hundred dollar iPhone to save a dollar or two by buying a cheap cable from Walmart, Walgreens, etc.

Amazon is the way to go. Their Amazon Basics cables are good. The same with Anker cables which you can get via Amazon.

In the past several years I bought several charging cables from Walmart and Best Buy for Apple Ipod touch, ipod Classic and Ipad Mini 3. So far nothing blew up.

Am I doing something wrong?

I got an excellent tv articulating wall mount for a great price from Monoprice and numerous good smaller items.

I also got an HDMI switcher and some super duper thin HDMI cables from them that were junk.

If you are using no name cables like I’ve seen at Walmart, Walgreens, etc., you’re taking an unnecessary chance.

It’s your choice, but if you’re spending hundreds of dollars for a device. Why would you risk frying it using some cheap cable?

I hear what your saying and with that, I use mainly Apple cables and quality cables from Best Buy. One of two more expensive cables from Wallmart and nothing from WalGreens.

I don't own a smart phone, but use several Apple and aftermarket cables on my Tracfone.

No problems thus far.

Yeah, you'll be fine with those. I should have been more detailed in my first reply. Sorry for any confusion.

I just bought a tv wall mount from them. The one I wanted had a decent price but higher shipping. To be fair the thing is heavy. I dug around a little & found the same one under their brand with a slightly higher price, but free shipping. I netted about ten dollars to the good. I'll look for coupon codes on some things. Sometimes you'll find something good.
