Colt defender springs

For anyone who has shot a Colt defender, I was wondering what is a realistic round count before you need to change your recoil springs and is it glaringly obvious when they do need changing?

I don't know about "realistically" or it becoming "glaringly obvious," but, IIRC, Colt recommends replacing it every five-hundred rounds or so.

I'm going to second the 500 round interval. A 3" barrel and an alluminum frame means lot's of energy to contain, so the recoil spring on that gun gets a workout.
