What do you like for an automatic compressor tank drain?

I’m watching this one. My compressor is in the rafters.

I've had good luck with these.

I have an old 60 Gallon vertical tank w the drain plug in the bottom. Tank bottom is within 2” of the floor; just enough for a close elbow to fit.
Curious to see if something turns up I can use as an automatic drain. Guess I could raise the tank up off of the floor……. Billy

I have a 90, a 6" nipple and a ball valve on mine. Plan is to remove the ball valve and replace it with the auto-drain. I'll post up a picture when I get it done.

Does anybody else open the drain, and let the compressor purge itself of compressed air if you're not going to be using it for a while? I do this so as to reduce the positive partial pressure of oxygen inside the tank in the belief that this will reduce oxidation on the tank walls, and thereby delay rust-through. Or am I overthnking it?

Don't remember what brand, but my 80 gal. compressor has an electronic drain that lets out a 3 second blast every 45 min. Works pretty good, as I despised draining it myself.
