At approximately 11:11 p.m., Davenport Police, Fire and Medic responded to the area around 1400 West Locust Street, Davenport, at Taco Bell in reference to the report of a gunshot victim. Reminds me of the country song. "Two out three aint bad" Place your clothes and weapons where you can find them in the dark. “If in winning a race, you lose the respect of your fellow competitors, then you have won nothing” - Paul Elvstrom "The Great Dane" 1928 - 2016

He will probably get fired because it's Illinois. It won't matter that he potentially saved some lives.

So the guy is mortally wounded and his final act is to grab a chalupa at Taco Bell?

Nope. Davenport still has an Olive Garden, it's a few miles N of the Taco Bell where the victim, er...dumbass criminal was found.

Don't judge the entire State of IL. based on Chicago/Cook County IL. Rock Island is a long way from Cook County.

The good guy with a gun has spoken to a local TV station, see below. Not sure that was wise unless his lawyer cleared the interview. https://www.kwqc.com/2022/01/2...uring-armed-robbery/ Store clerk shoots suspect during armed robbery By Evan Denton Published: Jan. 19, 2022 at 6:26 PM CST ROCK ISLAND, Ill. (KWQC) - The store clerk who shot and killed an armed robbery suspect in Rock Island explains why he pulled the trigger. The incident occurred at Blackhawks Tobacco & Vape. According to Rock Island Police, the three robbery suspects entered the store. All three suspects were wearing a mask, and one of them had a gun. As they threatened employees and demanded merchandise, the clerk decided he had to open fire. ”I was just thinking about trying to stay calm, stay still because they had the gun right in our faces,” said the store clerk, who asked to remain anonymous. The store clerk said Tuesday night was the first time he has encountered armed robbery inside the store. “This man looked me in the eyes and said, ‘You have kids at home? You have a family at home? I do. I wanna go home. Do you wanna go home tonight?’ As they were exiting the store, I saw him point the firearm towards a customer that was pulling up, and that’s when I emptied the magazine into him,” the store clerk said. The store clerk said there were two other staff members working. None of them were harmed. “We are just a little shaken up right now, trying to process everything,” the store clerk said. “Nobody wants to see anybody lose their life, nobody wants to see anybody get hurt, but people made their choices yesterday, and ended up being what it is.” The store clerk has since quit his job. “I almost died twice yesterday, man, with the gun in my face, and I could have gone to prison and lost my whole life. I just put an end to it and told them I was done. It is what it is,” the store clerk said. The Rock Island Police said the State’s Attorney Dora Villarreal will release a statement after she reviews the employee’s use of deadly force against the armed robbery suspects. The third suspect is still at-large. If you have any information about the case, contact Rock Island Police at (309) 732-2677 or Crime Stoppers at (309) 762-9500.

I failed to add Rock Island is in western IL, about two hours west of Chicago. It's on the Mississippi River at the intersection of I-80 & I-74. It's one of the IA/IL Quad Cities; Moline is the other in IL, Davenport and Bettendorf are in the IA side. https://www.kwqc.com/2022/01/2...ck-island-vape-shop/ State’s attorney: No charges filed against clerk who shot alleged robbers at Rock Island vape shop By KWQC Staff Published: Jan. 20, 2022 at 5:45 AM CST ROCK ISLAND, Ill. (KWQC) - Charges will not be filed at this time against a clerk at Blackhawks Tobacco & Vape Shop who shot two alleged robbers, killing one, Tuesday night, Rock Island County State’s Attorney Dora Villarreal said. “After a preliminary review of surveillance video and witness interviews, it appears the use of force by the employee was justified as self-defense and for the defense of others inside the store during the robbery,” she said in a media release posted on her Facebook page Wednesday night. Around 10:54 p.m. Tuesday, the business at 2733 18th Avenue in Rock Island was robbed by three males, Villarreal said. One of them pointed a gun at employees inside the store. One employee was able to get a gun kept by the store owner for protection because the store had been robbed twice in recent months, Villarreal said. The employee fired the gun several times and struck two of the alleged robbers. One of them died from their injuries, while the other is being treated at a local hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. Villarreal said she is preparing to file aggravated robbery charges against the two remaining robbery suspects and that additional charges are being considered as the case remains under investigation.
