This is not so much about the fact that I had a brain MRI on a Saturday, it's about the beginning of the procedure.

Enter the MRI room, technician tells me to lie on my back and put my head in the U shapped box , shoulders against the box. Ok. Then he shoves foam between the box and my head to prevent movement. Cool. Then he puts a plastic cage thing on my face and secures it to the box. I asked him if Clarice will be joining us. "You'll be in here by yourself". I couldn't do a facepalm because of the cage thing.

Maybe he never saw "Silence of the Lambs".

I hope all is good with your health.

But that procedure sounds more like a CT scan than an MRI.

In my family someone would be quick to say that they did a brain MRI and didn’t see anything. Here’s hoping they didn’t see anything.

Love the Clarice joke. I often think of Hannibal Lecter references but keep my mouth shut for fear "I can smell your pussy" will come out instead. I have a lifetime of smart ass to combat.

A year or so ago I told a couple of guys at work, "I love it when a plan comes together". Blank looks.

This past holiday season I wore my "Ho Ho Ho Now I Have a Machine Gun" sweatshirt. Not a single comment.

It sucks getting old!

He may not have seen Silence of the Lambs, and/or he may have no sense of humor.

I've been through a couple of brain CT scans and a cerebral angiogram, the latter would make an effective torture. They did confirm that the only thing in my skull was a "This Space for Rent" sign.

I pray your procedure went well and that your health is good.

Possibly a thread highjacking… and I wish Johnny ALL the luck in the world…but I also made a joke referencing the same movie during a procedure:

My dermatologist scheduled me for an inpatient excision of some basal cell carcinoma on my shoulder blade.

Lying on my stomach, local anesthesia applied, my doc said: “I am going to make a diamond-shaped incision on your back because it is harder to sew up a circular cut.”

“Oh, so this is like a Silence of the Lambs thing then?” I said.

“Huh?” Said the doc.

“You know, the movie? Clarice discovers the killer when she looks at a dress pattern with diamond shaped darts in his closet?”

“I have no idea what you’re talking about, I remember the movie but not the scene you’re talking about.”

You’d think a dermatologist would be very familiar with a movie that involved the stitching of human skin… but I guess not.

I guess that explains why the young lady just said, "Eww" when I told her, "I bet you'd be delicious with some fava beans and some chianti." I even did the lower lip sucking thing after I said that.

She just didn't get the reference.

"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Viktor Frankl, Man's Search for Meaning, 1946.
