Doing what I want, When I want, If I want! |
I turn 65 this month, so as of 12/01 I was switched to Medicare. That was a lot of fun searching for gap and medication coverages. And now for something completely different. Our house build in Tennessee is within 3 months of finishing! Then goodbye Illinois! Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to All! ******************************************** "On the other side of fear you will always find freedom"

Mine was also in October. Welcome to the club. Yeah, that Medicare birdnest is a beeyotch to untangle. Glad it's over. I ended up going with an Advantage plan, despite the negatives discussed recently on the forum. It was the only way to keep all my current doctors.

An Advantage plan wasn’t going to work for me since I’ll be moving in 2024 and getting new doctors. Also, deductibles for hospitalization can be extremely high with most Advantage plans (not all). ******************************************** "On the other side of fear you will always find freedom"

^^^^^^^^^^^^ Hope it works for you. I am a little confused. Do your current doctors refuse to take basic Medicare? Advantage plans often pay their doctors less and have prior authorization requirements, which makes it less attractive for most physicians.

I don't know if they'll let me in, my voice is not always clear, so I can't say Baaahhh very well. Congrats on your new home though, very exciting. Lover of the US Constitution Wile E. Coyote School of DIY Disaster

September for me. I'm still working so I don't NEED Medicare, but I signed up for Part A as there's no downside. I'll get Part B when I finally decide to push the button. I was wondering about that, too. It was my primary care doc that recommended the plan to me, so I just went with it. Can always change later.

You are leaving Illinois at the only time there are some good advantages. I still don’t blame you though. You do not pay State income tax on Social Security benefits, pension income or any distributions from retirement accounts.

Those same advantages are in Tennessee as well, but also low personal property tax. The annual tax on our 9.35 acres is $248.00. My tax in IL for 2/3’s of an acre and 1900 sq ft house is $6000+ with no services except snow plowing. We’re on a shared well, septic, pay for own trash pick up, volunteer fire dept., and tar & chip roads. It will be a raise in income to get to Tennessee. Thanks for the well wishes everyone! ******************************************** "On the other side of fear you will always find freedom"
