My relative I never knew
A relative I never knew. Robert Black Baumer, a veteran of World War II, flew 51 missions over Europe. Served on a B-29A Superfortress during the Korean War. Shot down during a night mission over what is now Kwaksan, North Korea, 10 June 1952. He was never found. May we never forget.

An unsung hero. Thanks for some reflection on what today really means.

During some genealogical research into family, I discovered not only a Civil War Veteran relative, but a Revolutionary War Vet who was in most of the major engagements.
It brought my family history and their service into sharp focus for me.
