In keeping with the theme of vehicle thread as of last, any forum member have experience with the Ford Explorer in Sport trim? The wife's getting the itch again for a new vehicle. She needs an SUV/crossover for hauling bow bags, road trips to tournaments, etc. She misses having a fun performance car. We test drove an Audi A4 a few weeks ago with the 6 speed manual and that her jonesing for her Audis and Acuras that she's owned in the past. She's got a Toyota 4Runner right now. It's been a great vehicle but I have to agree with her complaints about it. It's slow. The seating position is not the most comfortable for long distance driving. So that's the appeal of the Exploder Sport, an SUV/crossover with the twin turbo V-6 that actually is fun to drive. My daughter can deflate your daughter's soccer ball. | ||

Is that the engine with the internal water pump? One of our forum auto mechanics posted about that engine a couple weeks ago and it sounds like a good one to avoid. | |||

Having the EcoBoost in my F150, it really makes me want the same in our Flex. We have the NA 3.5 V6 in our current 2013 Flex & it's not bad. I'm sure the EcoBoost is a hoot. If the styling doesn't turn you/her off, i believe an EcoBoost Flex Limited can be had for a bit less than the ExSport. To arfmel's point above, I believe it was confirmed that the 3.5EB does not share the water pump design of the NA3.5 The Enemy's gate is down. | |||

My golfing buddy just bought the explorer sport model. A very nice ride at a decent price. Seems like a good build quality too. Plenty of room for at least 3 sets of clubs in the back. We do have to pull our drivers out of the bag when we put our clubs in. You might want to drive it for a bit on the test drive. I found the seats somewhat tiring after an hour or so of traveling. My wife has an Explorer XLT with the Sport trim. It has a 3.5 liter, but the black trim and really neat seat finish. The wheels look neat too. At first she was not sure but now really loves it. NRA Life Endowment member Tri-State Gun collectors Life Member | |||

We just bought a 2017 Raptor crew cab. I have to admit, I was very leery of the ecoboost, heck I still don't think it's a super fuel miser. However after having driven the new Raptor with the ecoboost I am a believer. Granted we've only put a couple hundred miles on it since we picked it up on Saturday but wow does it go. I know the Raptor ecoboost is more powerful than the standard ecoboost, but since an explorer is also lighter I'll bet it zips along nicely with the ecoboost. “It is not the critic who counts; not the man who points out how the strong man stumbles, or where the doer of deeds could have done them better. The Edge is a MUCH better vehicle if you don't need the 7 passenger seating. If you want a (relatively) fun to drive 7 seater, your best bet is the Mazda CX-9. | |||
