WarhorseIPhone7 help needed
I plugged my phone into its charger this morning, I left the phone on as I always do. At 8:00pm I unplugged my phone, it was off, I tried to turn it on, nope... phone will not turn back on.
What's going on with my phone?

snorisWas the battery down close to zero when you plugged it in?

hrcjonCan you confirm it actually was charging?

sjtillwas the charger plugged in?
Cords in all the way?
Leave it charging overnight, you should see at least a little red line on the battery icon.

snorisEven if you have a black screen, here's the first thing I'd try:
Unplug the charging cable for one minute, then plug it back in.
Then push and hold down the power button and the Volume Down button simultaneously for 10-15 seconds.
That produces a hard reboot and hopefully will wake your phone back up.

WarhorseThank you snoris, the hard reboot made my phone turn on. It is only at 76% battery power, but it is on and working.
I wonder what happened to it? It was down to 24% battery when I plugged it in this morning.

hjs157The same thing happened to my iPhone 7. It was on the charger. After reading a text message, I unplugged the charger and it went black. Not even the hard reboot would wake it up. The folks at Verizon said the battery was completely fried. I'm not so sure since it was fine minutes earlier, though they replaced the phone under my service agreement.

BurtonRWGo to SETTINGS > BATTERY > BATTERY HEALTH and see what it says.
Max Capacity should be at least 85% and it should indicate Peak Performance Capability.
Anything else and I would suggest a new battery.

I predict that there will be many suggestions and statements about the law made here, and some of them will be spectacularly wrong. - jhe888

Max Capacity is 95%, and under Peak Performance Capacity it says my battery is currently supporting normal peak performance.
