https://www.newsmax.com/us/ice...dkt_nbr=010102n61ao6 U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement announced it has received more than 100,000 applications in less than two weeks. "Our country is calling you to serve at ICE. In the wake of the Biden administration's failed immigration policies, your country needs dedicated men and women of ICE to get the worst of the worst criminals out of our country," Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem said. "This is a defining moment in our nation's history. Your skills, your experience, and your courage have never been more essential. Together, we must defend the homeland." Noem announced ICE had waived its age limits for new applicants to allow more people to qualify. All ICE law enforcement recruits are required to go through medical screening, drug screening, and complete a physical fitness test. ICE is offering new incentives including a maximum $50,000 signing bonus. Actor Dean Cain, who played Superman on "Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman" told Newsmax last week he had begun working for ICE. "The way they're going after our ICE agents now is causing me to step up and stand shoulder to shoulder with them," Cain said. Cain said ICE agents are on the front line of protection for America. "These are wonderful, hardworking, everyday Americans of all ethnicities and all religions, and they do an incredible job keeping us safe. They're being attacked and vilified now, and people need to step up and stand shoulder to shoulder with them, and that's exactly what I'm doing," he said.

I wonder what percentage of those applicants have clean (enough) records and can pass a drug test... ________________________________________ -- Fear is the mind-killer. If I don’t have to spend six months at a Police Academy, I might be interested. Background is clean. Easily pass a drug test. I was the only one to pass the physical test for the local PD. It’s got me thinking.

As an aside, I read an article about democRATs plan to sabotage Trump's efforts via internal sedition.
Link here. I'd bet dollars to donuts that not all the applicants have good intentions. Let's hope they're vetted properly.

I would think a lot of soon-to-be-laid-off ATF IOIs would be interested in this. Their headcount is getting cut by 60%, their years in service probably carry over to a new fed. agency and it's probably a bump in pay. Freewill Firearms 07 FFL, Class 2 SOT

Any way to be a part-time volunteer ICE Agent? Just to go after people drinking beer in glass bottles on beaches, driving scooters into cars, without licenses or insurance, and blasting rumbon on stereos on the beaches...

Two major downsides to applying to one of these spots as a 37+ year old... 1) Federal LE mandatory retirement is usually age 57, by law. The typical new hire requirement to be under 37 (unless offset year-for-year by other military service or federal LE service) is designed to ensure that federal LEOs get the minimum 20 years needed for their full retirement pension before they hit age 57. Now, there is a way around this. If you get an age waiver to enter past age 37 and therefore haven't hit 20 years of service by age 57, the law allows you to keep working until the day you hit 20 years of service before it's mandatory that you leave. A 38-40 year old working until 58-60 is reasonable. But if the ICE applicant is - for example - 45 or 50, this means they'd have to work until 65 or 70 to get their retirement. And how many 60+ year olds are going to still be able to meet medical, physical, and performance standards to keep working as an ICE LEO for a bunch more years? How many 60-something year olds would even want to still be an active LEO? That means that over the next couple decades there are going to be some/many of these age-waivered ICE LEOs that are being forced out for age/health/physical/personal reasons when they're over 57 but before they've hit their 20 years of service, and they won't have a full pension to fall back on. 2) ICE will almost certainly be massively downsized the minute a non-Republican enters the White House, and these newest officers from this big hiring push will be the first ones on the chopping block. Especially if they had to get an age waiver to get in. That may be as soon as 3 years. It may be 7 years. It may not be for 11 or more years. Who knows. But not very good job security. Put those two together, and if you're over the age of 37 (and especially if you're over the age of 40ish), you have both shaky job security short term and shaky retirement security long term. So as much as I can appreciate the fervor to join ICE right now, and ICE's generous concession to attract more recruits, it's not exactly the best career situation to get yourself into for many folks.

If this was a year from now I'd seriously consider it. I've got one year left to be vested in my pension at my current job, and leaving now would be stupid. I'd be 41, so old but not ridiculously so, and I can still pass the physical agility standards for our state, so I can't imagine whatever the feds require would be out of reach. I could pass a background no problem, and have a pretty compatible resume. The opportunity to move further west (maybe), better pay, better benefits, and potential for advancement has appeal...not to mention the signing bonus. Morale has gotta be awesome at that agency right now, too. My buddy got on USBP pretty early out of college, and has had a pretty great career, the four Biden years notwithstanding. Watching the way things have worked out for him, I'd be lying if I didn't say that sometimes I wish I'd gone with him instead of dicking around doing IT for 10 years before getting into LE. He'll be almost eligible to retire while I'm just breaking my 10 year mark, and the federal pay and benefits are superb. Not to mention it sounds like a really fun job with a lot of variety and opportunities for specialization. ----------------------------------------------------------- Any comments made by this poster are my own and do not reflect the views or opinions of my employer.

Looks like they're currently hiring for: Phoenix, AZ Los Angeles, CA San Diego, CA San Francisco, CA Centennial, CO Washington, DC Miami, FL Atlanta, GA Chicago, IL New Orleans, LA Boston, MA Baltimore, MD Detroit, MI Saint Paul, MN Kansas City, MO Charlotte, NC Newark, NJ Las Vegas, NV Buffalo, NY New York, NY Philadelphia, PA San Juan, PR Nashville, TN Dallas, TX El Paso, TX Harlingen, TX Houston, TX San Antonio, TX Salt Lake City, UT Seattle, WA But even if the location you want is on that list, you won't know your actual duty station options until the very end of your recruitment process (months or a year+ down the road). Once they're ready to provide you a final job offer, you can select from whichever duty stations actually still have open spots available at that time. Therefore, relocation is almost always required. At least for the initial part of your career until you can later attempt to transfer to a different spot.

Yeah...there are a few decent looking places on that list, and a lot of really horrible ones. The idea of being sent anywhere in the county that they want to send you with no say in the matter is definitely a downside. With my luck I'd get assigned to Newark... ----------------------------------------------------------- Any comments made by this poster are my own and do not reflect the views or opinions of my employer.

While I do love a good bagel, I'm type 1 diabetic and on a Keto diet...can't eat them. And even if I could, living in NJ still wouldn't be worth it! ----------------------------------------------------------- Any comments made by this poster are my own and do not reflect the views or opinions of my employer.
