We have a carrier unit that originally had an electrostatic filter system. The old system just went kaput and we are seriously thinking about replacing our system with a box filter unit.

I am under the impression that box filter units exist however from my research I cannot find something in the same dimension as the original unit. Am I good if I just get something close long as it covers the blower housing? Should I order custom built filters?

The plan was for our regular hvac guy to come today to look at it and tell us what size filter to order. Unfortunately after I took off work early and waited he called 4hours later to say he couldn't get here until Thursday. Maybe.

At this point I'm not even sure how long the system has been running without a working filter and would rather get it handled sooner than later. Additionally I'd just as soon tell this guy I don't need him at this point.

The unit is a carrier if that makes any difference. The original units slid in and made contact with one another kinda like batteries. The dimensions of the two together is 18x28x6 however the actual opening to the blower is a bit smaller at around 16x24.

Thanks for any help.

Model number is 31KAX020110.

This is a pic of the unit.

That's the unit model number. The filters themselves do not have model numbers on them.

I actually found the box filter that converts the unit from electrostatic to hepa. Not sure why my google fu didn't come up with it yesterday.

Either way. Ordered the filters.

Thanks to those who reached out.
