Has anyone else started receiving (about 3 weeks ago) gun related SPAM? Mine come in From: various names, like VIP Tactical Deals, Gun Coupons, Gunwinner, and 1st Freedom Hub, among others. I have managed to filter all of them to Trash with a very few filter lines, as they have similarities that make that easy. I suspect one ultimate source, though they are sent from different ISPs and mail servers. When in doubt, mumble

I've received about six emails from various addresses about how to get handgun licenses using their services. I promptly deleted them and I don't remember the details. I also added a rule to delete them.

I just checked my junk folder. No gun-related spam in there. I did find a fair amount of pornographic material, but I don't have a pornograph to play it on. הרחפת שלי מלאה בצלופחים

It's most likely a result of some free gun sweepstakes you signed up for, like from Sig or another. That's what companies are doing with their "Sign up to win 1 of 3 custom AR15s!!!!" deals... They're harvesting your contact info, which they then sell to marketing companies. It's not spam, since you agreed to it in the fine print of the agreement that you clicked through during the sweepstakes entry. As a result, these marketing companies now know your contact info, and that you like guns, so they start sending you gun-related marketing by mail and email. The cost of a few giveaway guns is pennies on the dollar compared to what they've making by selling all the data from the tens/hundreds of thousands of people who enter.

Ahahahahahaha!!! Nice!! Yes, I've been receiving similar junk emails. That's why I'm not signing up for these sweepstakes anymore. I figure the chances of my winning are between slim and none (does anyone actually ever win a free gun???). _______________________________________ Flammable, Inflammable, or Nonflammable....... I haven't entered SIG's monthly giveaway in a few years, and have not signed up for any sweepstakes of any kind (gun or other). But you are correct about the source, it results from a harvest of some kind. One of the major gun boards, like Gunbroker or Armslist (examples only), or even a vendor, may have been a hack victim and either don't know about it, or are keeping it quiet.
