Can anyone recommend a 1 gallon size sprayer, for using roundup/weed killer around the house. I seem to remember a prior discussion but can’t find it currently. I’ve had 2 cheap ones from Lowes the past two years, they just don’t hold up and can’t really be repaired when the gaskets on the pump go out.

I've been buying Roundup brand 1 ga. pump sprayers. They'll last a lot longer if you use all the product each time and rinse them thoroughly, incl. pumping them up on clean water and running that through the nozzle for about 30 seconds or so. Then disassemble and allow to thoroughly air-dry before storing. "America is at that awkward stage. Buy a cheap one and throw it away at the end of the season. I'd look at TSC or Harbor Freight. _____________________ Be careful what you tolerate. You are teaching people how to treat you.

My walmart has 1 gal pump up sprayers right now for 5 bucks. I dont even bother with washing it out and keep some roundup mixed in one most of the time for spot touchups usually last a season or two. I have an electric 12 volt, 15 gallon with a 50 foot hose for more serious work. Collecting dust.

You may already do this, but when you're finished using it each time, rinse it out really good and then run a half gallon of fresh water through the sprayer to clean out all parts exposed to chemicals. ------------------------------------------------------ Though we choose between reality and madness It's either sadness or euphoria

We have a large yard. We spray a number of different products for weeds, bugs, etc. we have a half dozen of these in a number of different manufacturers. They are all just fine as long as you keep the trigger mechanisms and tips clean. I have 3 of these inexpensive 1 Gallon pump sprayers (1 for organic garden, 1 for Round-up landscaping, and 1 spare). They've all survived their second year and the only thing it's missing is a pressure relief valve/plug. More than a gallon, but cheap and supposedly has lifetime warranty. Picked them up at Home Depot, think one may have been free if you purchased x dollars of roundup products. Jesse Sic Semper Tyrannis

If I remember correctly, your garden usually has hundreds of plants. My garden is just 6 tomato varieties, 3 pepper varieties, 2 bush bean varieties, 1 sugar baby watermelon, 3 or 4 herb plants, and a malabar spinach plant (they thrive in heat & humidity). Have you tried the Chapin brand that I posted a few posts back and am on my 2nd season (I spray my organic garden 1x or 2x per week)? 1x per week with Neem oil (organic pest repellent and disease/fungal prevention) and Actinovate (blight prevention) Last year, I also sprayed 1x per week with Epsom salts (help calcium uptake in tomatoes) but I’m doing something different this year that doesn’t require spraying. About 1x per month, I replace the Neem with Captain Jack’s Dead Bug Brew. Organic is kind of a PITA. For example, the neem washes off when it rains. A couple times I’ve come close to switching to granddad’s inorganic ways (eg Seven dust) Ego is the anesthesia that deadens the pain of stupidity DISCLAIMER: These are the author's own personal views and do not represent the views of the author's employer.

I've had good luck with the Roundup 1 gal. sprayers also. I never empty mine, I just tip it upside down and spray some air through the nozzle.

I just thought it was funny to be spraying an "organic" garden. Assumed you sprayed something nonorganic. And, yeah, organic can be a bit of a PITA. I've been lucky both this year and last, however. I've had to do nothing but plant and water. No bugs to speak of at all except a few grasshoppers going after my cucumbers, but I'd already gotten everything I needed off of them, so no loss. Unfortunately, I've got a metric shit-ton of tomatoes, cayennes, and green peppers but they are all still green and we'll have a frost coming before they ripen. I'll try putting them in paper bags with some ripe apples and hopefully they'll ripen up for me. Just started too late again this year dang it! ________________________________________________________ "Great danger lies in the notion that we can reason with evil." Doug Patton.
