I just signed up for armslist last week and I've messaged about 8 people so far with interest in their sales. I've gotten ZERO responses. I offered asking price the day the post went up on two different things in my own city and zero response. Is this typical? Am I doing something wrong? Is there some sort of secret code?

Stopped looking there a long time ago. I feel like most of the adds are scams to collect email addresses.

High signal to noise ratio on Armlist and a ton of flaky buyers and sellers. But I have done plenty of good deals buying and selling. Just need to be sharp and have a high tolerance for BS.

I tried Armslist last year when I was looking for a P220 ASE that I saw referenced here....same deal, finally found one & a dealer nonetheless who would ship.....

No response on that one though I did manage to purchase a West German P220 from another add - inbound dealer when he transferred it to me "Bro, this thing is beat". Lol. It cleaned up nice after a trip to Ford's for a re-blue.

word on Armslist is :

HIGHLY populated with scam artists

ONLY use that site to arrange local / face-to-face transactions taking safety precautions

I would never do a long-distance transaction on Armslist

I too have had the same experience. I have contacted a couple sellers over the space of a year or so, and received no response.

That was enough for me.

I haven’t sold on Armslist, but two of the three I’ve put on Gunbroker ended up being scam listed on AL. I’m sure legitimate deals take place, but no way I’d take a chance.

I've sold a few on Armslist but was warned by a friend that it's full of scams and to be cautious.

Check your junk mail folder. That's happened to me with an armslist communication.

I had a few good transactions with people locally but I won't drive far for a deal. Some people are on there just to screw with people, unfortunately.

They usually don't respond in my experience.

In AZ, the site has been taken over by vendors with pages of their inventory. If I use the site now, it's to peruse their inventory.

It’s generally about 50/50 for me. If it’s a good deal and a real ad it generally goes quickly and the seller doesn’t want to respond to everyone.

I have found a couple good deals this year. The sellers were responsive and very easy to deal with. I managed to get a lightly used larue predatar and an mcx virtus for less than half of new.

In my experience there are lots more flakes and crooks on Armslist than CL. Never even waste time looking at it anymore and ignore anything that pops up on a search.

I’ve made one transaction out of about 25 attempts. A waste of time imo

I’ve had some flakes on Armslist. But only do face to face here in NH, so that is a plus. Sometimes meetings can be a juggle as to different work schedules, but I’ve made a few friends and have done multiple trades and sales/purchases. Just gotta watch yourself. I do prefer to work with someone who has been on the site for a few years and don’t put too much effort with “unconfirmed” sellers.
