Mostly a beer man now, but my favorite mixed drink has always been a Green Demon

Basically a shot each of vodka, rum and Midori, with 4oz of lemonade

Emeril Margarita

3 oz Gran Gold Tequila
1 1/2 oz. Grand Marnier
1 oz fresh squeezed Persian Lime juice
(Key Lime makes an interesting variation)

Serve on rocks or strained, with or without salted rim glass.

As noted, it is Emeril Lagasse’s recipe... damn good!

I enjoy a nice old fashioned. I prefer to make mine with rye, and the better quality whiskey you use, the better the drink turns out since there isn't a whole lot that goes into the old fashioned. I've taken to using higher proof whiskey in my recipe and like the results very much.

Here's how I make mine:

Teaspoon of filtered water and a sugar cube go into a highball glass, 2 dashes bitters (regular or orange; or one of each), then a couple maraschino cherries, with a teaspoon of the cherry syrup (use Luxardo cherries!), stir up these contents, then add 2 oz (or a little more) of good whiskey or bourbon (I like to use rye best). Toss in some ice cubes, give a gentle stir, and sip away.

A Sidecar has been my favorite for a long time.

A newer favorite is a Mezcal Mule. I love the smokiness of the mezcal. A local bar makes a strawberry mezcal mule with strawberries, mezcal, agave, citrus, and ginger beer.

Rum and pineapple juice are always good for summer.

For year round, my standard go-to drinks are:

- Martini. With gin, damn it. And vermouth, as it's supposed to. The absolute key is to use a high quality vermouth, something that can be sipped on by itself. I use Quady Vya Extra Dry, pricey at 16 bucks for a small .375l bottle. For gin, whatever quality one I have open, currently Boodles. I mix to a 10:1 ratio, with 2 olives, sometimes I turn it into a Gibson by adding a cocktail onion.

- Vesper. For a nice change of pace from a martini, the old James Bond drink. 3 measures of gin, 1 measure of Ketel One vodka, 1/2 measure of Cocchi Americano aperitif, and a splash of bitters. Add a lemon peel twist.

- Manhattan. I like these more than old-fashions. I use rye (Bulleit), Carpano Antica sweet vermouth, and a splash of Regans Orange Bitters No. 6. I add 2 Luxardo cherries.

Seasonal drinks include margaritas and gin & tonics in the summer, sidecars in the winter. I love a quality Bloody Mary, but those are rare.

Light Bacardi rum and tonic with lime. If I want something a bit sweeter I'll substitute 50/50 Fresca and OJ for the tonic. Coke is too sweet.

Otherwise Irish whiskey neat.

Beer at the bar with buddies but rarely at home.

Unless its a Gin and, or Vodka and,or something REAL simple, I use my DrinkWorks machine.
I have accumulated a good inventory of drink pods that satisfy my moods and my guests requests.
I'm very happy with the machine.
