Looking for a source for a tiny compression spring.
Spring specs are as follows:

Diam. of wire .0120 +/- .0005
Diam. of coil .060 +/- .002
Free length .133
Spring rate 54 Lb/In ref
Solid length .086 Max

I'm not looking to hit the above numbers exactly, but if I can that would be great.

Steel/Stainless steel, either is fine.

I've found some .059/.060 OD springs near the free length and solid length specs I need, but the minimum order is huge and I only need two springs.

I've checked Brownells as well and they do not appear to have small enough OD spring stock for this project.

Anyone have any bright ideas?

Thanks.

Have you asked for Engineering Samples? To see if they'll work on your project?

Order the KIT #3 - SKU 10030 MINIATURE COIL SPRINGS from Wolff. I was looking for some tiny springs and this fit my needs.

Have not, and at $13/per I think it is unlikely they would (I also would not ask as there would be no follow up order): https://www.asraymond.com/catalog/C00590100125S

I may call them Monday to ask for some kind of kit list for that. Interesting.

Both of these places work in wire diameters down to .002-.004. Don't know if they will sell you just one though.

They were the first place I looked as I have one next door to where I work. They list the Raymond springs I posted a link to, but they are a fortune and the minimum order quantity was large.

Xer0 and 41, it looks like Templeman has a couple that are close, and they are a buck a piece. I'll call them tomorrow.

ScreamingCockatoo, not a bad idea. I have not worn a wristwatch in 25+ years, but I think I saw a couple of those spring pins in one of my parts drawers in the recent past. Now can I find them again.....

Did you note the "close wound spring, coils in contact" in the description. That is NOT a Compression spring, it is in fact an Extension Spring.

The good news is that you provided a link to an excellent resource and after some poking I found one that is quite close to what the OP is seeking.

http://stocksprings.drtemplema...00/can-0137-0952-s-1

M1Garrandy, if you need an EXACT spring as you requested you wont find it and I don't think that you'll find anyone willing to hand wind it. Because the tolerances you have requested cannot be held. Seriously, +/- 0.002 inch for coil diameter on a spring, you would be doing well at +/- 0.01 inch. I would suggest that you consider the concept that close enough is good enough. In which the link I posted may be close enough.

I've stopped counting.

Colt SAA uses a coil spring in the firing pin about the size your looking for. I looked but I can't find one to measure. The spring I'm referring to is #38 on Numrich diagram for Colt SAA, they are about .060 od but I'm not sure of wire size.
Or you could wind your own from .012 guitar string . If you know anyone with a lathe they could wind up a nice one . Your local gunsmith may have one too.
Out of curiosity what is the spring for?
