After 8 or 10 years, both my 2 quart and 3 quart sauce pans needs to be replaced due to the non-stick coating flaking off at the rim. They were just Kirkland brand, anodized, and non-stick.

Requirements:
  • one (1) 3 to 4 quart sauce pan w/ lid
  • one (1) 1.5 to 2 quart sauce pan w/ lid
  • dishwasher safe
  • I want the Glock (works great but utilitarian) of the sauce pan world not the Wilson Combat
  • I cook on a gas range so it doesn't have to be induction capable.

    I do not want:
  • a set w/ fry pans, saute pans, skillets, stock pots, do-dads, doohickeys, gizmos, etc. I'm happy with my fry pans, saute pans, dutch ovens, and stock pots.
  • a lecture on why dishwashers are bad
  • clad cookware. I've previously returned clad saute pans because they're too finicky for me.
  • cast iron cookware. My cast iron skillets only get used for making corn bread and don't foresee ever wanting to use a cast-iron sauce pan.

Within these parameters, what do y'all recommend?

Does anybody know anything about these Bialetti Copper Pro Sauce Pans?

Take a trip to Marshalls, they have lots of good brands of individual sauce pans and generally cheap.

Calphalon is pretty good. You might want to try Costco again, if they lasted 10 years.

You want really cheap and won't believe how long they'll last you. These Farberware ones. I have some from when I bought my first condo in 2005 and they're still fine and use them often...…Around $50 for a set of 3 sauce pans with lids.

^^^^I agree with this. Marshall's or HomeGoods are good sources. As to Farberware, it, along with Revereware, were the standard in American households for many decades. And they lasted that long (I bet I still have one or two of my mom's, and they'd be 70 years old). Good, serviceable cookware, at least when they were made in USA. Don't know today's.

Kirkland stainless steel. No coating. Cleans easy. If it gets burned on food, you can boil it out. You can also use an SOS pad. If those fail, you can go 800 grit and stage it up to 2000 grit.

I have been using these for ages. Quite happy with them.

On their website, the only Kirkland that Costco is selling is a 15-piece anodized set. I've slowly replaced everything from the set 8 or 10 years ago. I frankly don't have the room for another set (each piece I buy will result in the old item being thrown away) and just want the pieces I listed.

There’s a restaurant supply place on the 249 feeder between Northpointe and Spring Cypress; on the southbound side after you pass Northpointe Blvd. Not sure what the pricing is...never been in there, but I’m sure they have cool stuff. Restaurant Depot is the name.

If using a dishwasher, get solid stainless steel. Don't get tri-ply because the dishwasher will corrode the exposed aluminum. I wouldn't get copper if using a dishwasher either. You're pretty much limited to stainless.

Vintage RevereWare had heavy copper bottoms; newer stuff we have is much thinner.
If we were buying new stuff I would make sure it’s suitable for induction cooking.

For your Glock like needs in the cookware department, try Vollrath. You can go stupid expensive with them or affordably cheap.

I have used AllClad for 50 years... never a problem.

Look on eBay for used pots.

My mom bought me Cooks Standard non stick saucepans when I moved out of the house 20 year ago. I still have them, and they are in perfect condition. I have been extremely impressed that the non stick coating has lasted this long.

I also have a nice set of tri-ply stainless/aluminum saucepans. I like the option of choosing if I need a non-stick pan or if the stainless is more appropriate.

I have a lot of Revere Ware. Dishwashers are terrible for them. Once in a while might be OK, but they gradually destroy the Bakelite plastic handles and knobs. Dishwashers can also gradually wears the copper bottom off.

I’ve been using all clad for years and love it, but I recently saw a recommendation from a YouTube channel I follow for Tramontina Stainless Tri-ply.
I needed to get a set for a house the company had so I tried it. It’s a very close knock off of all clad. Slightly lighter but still very nice. And from Walmart no less. The whole set was only like $130 and I see both pans you need are right at $30 each. Hell of a deal.

Don't put tri-ply in the dishwasher.

This seems to be just what you are looking for: a four-piece set consisting of two quart and three quart non-stick sauce pans with lids, on the Costco website for $42.99.

I'd get clad, but avoid the dishwasher.

    Or maybe LaCreuset.

Guys, he asked for dishwasher-safe, which rules out All-Clad, Le Creuset, cast iron, anything copper bottom, or anything upper end really. Any upper mid-level or better cookware and cutlery comes w/ instructions to "handwash only."

I don't recommend anything w/ a PTFE/Teflon type coating in the dishwasher either. I think the best recommendation for tatortodd is the Bialetti set he linked in his OP, or something similar w/ a non-PTFE non-stick coating, such as Greenpan.

Keep in mind those Green/Copper Pro coated cookare need to be seasoned before using for their non-stick properties to work best and hold up well. Overheating them also ruins the coating.
