when do people care if others are posting their pictures on the internet?
and when don't they care?

,
I've seen a couple of SigForum member's get just a bit twisted when their pic's were used w/o their permission.

I initially didn’t know what you were talking about bendable, but then I saw the pic with a SigForum watermark in another forum, and just started laughing.

Normally, I don't care. When I'm posting a photo publicly, I can assume that other folks very well might repost it to use it as an example or to make a point in one of their own posts. I'm totally cool with that use.

Obviously, if someone's using it for fraud, like using one of my photos as part of a scam WTS ad, that would irk me. But even then, there's not much one can do about it.

I don’t care if someone is using my pic for non-commercial purposes. If someone is generating revenue or using in a wts then it bothers me.

A couple years ago, a site with a bunch of ads on it was using a meme I created. Dumb bastards were linked to my hosting site so I altered the picture with text making fun of them. I checked for a few weeks and the altered pic was still being used.

I've had many of my photos shared with others on the web without my knowledge, and I've never heard of any being used in a way I would not approve of.

I have had 3 photos (that I know of) used commercially: one became the cover photo of a book and was used without my permission. However, the profits from the book are going to a charity I approve of and I even have some quotations in the book, so I didn't make an issue of it. Two others have been used as illustrations in publications, and I was asked for permiussion (which I gave). I did not ask for any remuneration, just an attribution. (I did receive a gratis copy of one of the publications, though.)

I am not a professional photographer and do not rely on my photos to provide income. I am pleased that some folks like them enough to share them with others.

If they removed my watermark from those pics and/or if they were hotlinking to those pics from my server (and thereby using our bandwidth), it would be worth pursuing, but they are hosting those pics with their own image site and the pics are watermarked correctly, so, I don't care.

Nice rifle, isn't it?

I was searching for those photos , expecting to find them on the forum and came across them there.

might be the best pictures of a gorgeous rifle on the inner net.

I can not figure out how to save the pictures ,
on this computer. for future admiration.

Have you done anything too it since you posted those here?

Have been waiting for the range reports

Oh, I'm not much on posting rage reports, bendable. Suffice to say that this is the nicest rifle I will ever own. The Kahles scope (which was a gift from the members of this forum) is an incredible piece of glass. You can find scopes of equal optical quality (such as those from Kahles' patent company Swarovski), but none will surpass it. Kahles scopes are, in a word, underrated, even considering the praise heaped upon them.

Since those pics were taken, I've replaced the Tango Down grip with one of Parker Mountain Machine's modified modified Magpul MOE+ grips, and I have replaced the Blue Force Gear VCAS sling (not shown in those photos) with a new VCAS that has a captured rear sling swivel.

And that's a reversed Bobro mount, so that I don't scrape my knuckles on the mount's locking lever when cocking the rifle. This has to be requested from Bobro at the time of order, but they'll do it for you at no extra charge.

The rifle also has a Geissele Super Scar trigger installed. You'll have to try one. There's no way for me to adequately describe the superb quality of this trigger.

I would care if it was commercial use.

Sure, but you be able to save those pics very easily. Simply right-click on each image and choose 'save image as', or similar verbiage, depending upon your browser.

Ol' Para makes decent pics, don't he?

See the locking lever on the mount? Imagine dragging your knuckles across that real fast. So, the mount is reversed so that it is on the opposite side of the charging handle on my rifle.

Charging handle side

below the forward lens of the scope,
just below the top rail.

its leaving a shadow

You can install the charging handle on either side. My preference is for it to be on the left side, just like FN's FAL.

This is my second go-around on the M14 forum as a moderator. A long time ago, maybe around 2010, I was a moderator and began doing photo tutorials and posting images on the forum.

The original owner started an M14 association and I contributed a lot of content to training materials which were different to the ones I posted on the forum.

Well we had a falling out because I was friends with someone he had a disagreement with and he banned me from the forum so I nuked all my images from my photo hosting website, thereby removing all the photos from the forum sticky posts.

He had actually archived all my images and threw his own copyright symbol on my images and reposted all my images without my permission.

I threatened to sue him for copyright infringement for stealing my images and throwing his copyright watermark on them and he promptly deleted them.

Fast forward to 2011 and he sold the forum and the membership asked the new owner to invite me back. I accepted the invitation back and returned to moderator duties about three years ago. I eventually restored my images to the original posts.

As a result, I always post a copyright logo on my YouTube videos.
