Ocala area got lucky. Some gusting breezes not over about 30-35mph. We could have used a bit more of rain @ only around 1.5 inches. This is the driest August I have ever experienced here.

I guess I missed a few days here getting ready for and riding out and now recovering! the storm hit me, my business, my family and my friends here in Madison, Suwannee, Hamilton and Taylor counties! We made it with no lives lost and not NEARLY the devastation I feared- but plenty with property damage. I grew up in Perry and it’s a lot like Marianna was after Hurricane Michael- in my opinion not quite as bad but still life-changing for many.

Looks like the power companies are doing a great job- but many will be weeks more without power. The other issue is that many here are not financially sound- Madison is the poorest county in the state- and like anywhere rural, homes (especially mobile homes) quickly fall into disrepair- disproportionately so regarding the elderly. Many organizations here to help them- but man have the money grabbing cheats showed up too!

But again, alive and healthy here in my close circle so feeling blessed (and guilty at times until I remember how hard we worked to make it through times like these!)

Thanks for your thoughts and prayers- as the news trucks leave, they people have a long way to go so keep it up!

P.S. Samaritans Purse, Cajon Navy and a few church organizations showed up QUICKLY and went to work!
