Amazon "survey" looked legit until I got to the "free gift" page. AFTER I'd confirmed my phone and email.

Damn it! Should have known better.

Reported it to Amazon.

Oh well, it's not like my phone and throw-away email aren't readily available elsewhere.

Be careful when following the masses. Sometimes the M is silent.

Did you have to log in when you clicked into the site? If so, change your amazon password quickly.

My friends get mad at me because I almost never respond to emails with links or click through links from texts. They shut up when I ask how many times they’ve been compromised by shady websites. I’m sure I’ll get snared by one eventually but after working tech support for several years my warning radar is sensitive as hell. Hope you don’t have any fallout from this.

Yes, change any passwords that got you there. Amazon, perhaps email, etc.

Hello. My name is Bob, and I'd like a few moments of your time for a survey. Can you spare a moment? You can? That's excellent. First of all, how long have you owned your home? Do you have a dog? What shift do you normally work? Is there a time when you're routinely not in the house? Do you own a burglar alarm? What is the combination to your safe? I'd like you to confirm your social security number for me, to continue. That's it, thank you. Can you tell me your birthday to prove it's really you? We do offer a small reward for taking part in our survey. NO, it's very simple. We send it directly to you. All I'll need form you is a routing and transit number and I can have it deposited in your account tomorrow. No, no need to check it until then; it takes at least 24 hours. Meanwhile you can call me on this number any time. Thank you and have a great day. Oh, for a free hat and one case of girl scout cookies, do you have any friends or neighbors who are routinely out of their houses, too? I have something really special for them. You're welcome. Have a great day.
