I thought no, because it abbreviates 2 different things. Auto loader, and automatic machine gun fire. ------------------ The plural of anecdote is not data. -Frank Kotsonis

I disagree, because the action of firing a cartridge does not automatically load another round into the firing position in a revolver. It still takes a manual action to cycle it. The "one round per trigger pull" is not a sufficient definition to describe the mechanical action of an automatic firearm. Whether it's a sufficient legal distinction is separate discussion.

I didn't see this as darthfuster suggesting that TMats was attempting to confuse the terms, but that there are people who DO attempt to confuse them and this is one of the means they use. Regarding the question, I voted "Yes" because I've read about "automatic pistols" all my life, and none of them were full-auto. flashguy Texan by choice, not accident of birth

Piling on... Automatic = auto loading = uses the energy of the round fired to cycle the action of the firearm to load the next round into the chamber.

Please don't think I was referring to you as "some people". I wasn't. I am indicating that these questions are disseminated by others who do have an agenda. They wish to confuse the passively interested into thinking semi is fully automatic or the equivalent. They are NOT the same. Semi auto AR-15s are so different in construction that one would have to be a machinist and have access to parts not readily available to 'make' a full auto. Not impossible but difficult for the average Joe. Unless you have built an AR and compared the parts, you could be easily moved to confuse the two by appearance only. Add a nebulous definition of automatic and voila' changed culture. You’re a lying dog-faced pony soldier

Semi/Full Gun automatically strips, ejects, and loads next round. Full Same as above plus seer, selector, trigger and BCG that allows more than one round per trigger pull. Other than releasing hammer automatically I see no difference. Jesse Sic Semper Tyrannis

Short answer. No. The trigger pull leads to a dropped hammer sitting on a spent cartridge. Even if you dismiss the idea that the case should be ejected, you still have a revolver that is not cocked above a live round. _______________________________________________________ despite them

I find it fairly interesting that more people have voted "No" in this poll than "Yes" considering that the answer to the question doesn't even technically deal with an opinion, or at least it shouldn't. ~Alan Acta Non Verba NRA Life Member (Patron) God, Family, Guns, Country Men will fight and die to protect women... because women protect everything else. ~Andrew Klavan
