Wildfires in Canada
We are under an air quality alert currently and it's quite hazy due to the wildfires in Quebec - some 500 miles north of us. We used to have a place on Henderson Harbor (Eastern end of Lake Ontario) and I can recall in 1989 or 1990 we could actually smell the smoke there from the wildfires. Went outside my work building just now and sure enough I can smell the smoke. Anyone else having effects from the fires?

Yes.

Now I hate the Canadians. Wish they'd keep their smoke in their own backyard.

Yup - here in MN we've been seeing smoke and having really hazy days for over a month. Some days it was so thick that you could barely see the sun through it. Definitely could smell it on those days.

Yes, smokey here in central upstate NY.
I can't smell the smoke inside the house, outside it's very noticeable.

It's even hazy down here in SE Pennsylvania because of those fires

Yup. We've had it a few days here. Coming down from Nova Scotia.

Last month and into April, it was wildfires in western Canada sending smoke down into Rocky Mountain and western plains states. Interesting that eastern Canada is burning now. Hope relief is coming

Yup...over a million acres burning in Alberta generated dense smoke down here with air quality warnings about going outside. It SUCKED!

That could've been from wildfires in Jersey. We were pretty smoked out in Delaware Bay a couple of days ago.

I noticed it last week. The haze is still here but I don't smell it though. Maybe I'm just used to it by now.

It confused me last week though, because it had the same smell as a building fire, as opposed to the normal wood/brush smell. Luckily we haven't had many "smoke in the area" calls.

Isn't that the truth. It seems like every year is a little worse than the year before. Frown

The dark, cloudy day plus all the smoke makes me feel like I'm in Mordor.

Really heavy smoke here in central Virginia the last couple of days with today being the worst. It’s got uninformed people freaking out. The county supervisors had to put out an alert to calm the sheep

Here in Berks County, PA it got really, really smoky in the past hour or so almost like there are local fires. But I monitor a local fire alerts FB page and it’s all Canada. It’s actually almost getting like a fog out here but with smoke.

This is crazy.

Just south of Buffalo we can see and smell the smoke.
