Same reason every other group has its own version of an awards ceremony. The Western Packaging Association just doesn't televise their annual banquet recognizing excellence in packaging or get media coverage. Hamilton Elementary School has a ceremony that doesn't mean anything to you or me but means something to the kids.

Anthony Weichert? Cool, I played baseball against him in the 60"s. Good guy but I'm surprised there is an award named after him.

Yeah, but only his mama calls him that, and, even then, only when he's in trouble.

DiNiro is good at reading other people's words. His own, not so much.

Just one more of an endless line of trash who think they are so important that the whole world is breathlessly awaiting their most recent pronouncement.

We have not been in a movie theater since Dr. Zhavago came out. Was that not in the early '70s?

In our opinion, all these "special effects" extravaganzas do nothing but cover up the fact that damned few of the sillywood trash have any talent at anything other than being semi-literate assholes.

The Tony Awards are for plays, Elk. Not movies.

Broadway, not Hollywood.

I used to like DeNiro as an actor. I'll never watch him again.
As far as award shows go, I usually don't know the plays, the actors or the presenters.
These leftist bastards have congratulated themselves Into obscurity.

Thanks, just goes to show how little we care about any of them!

Actors, by definition, are liars and deceivers. The Greek word for actor is ὑποκριτής (hupokritḗs) - "hypocrite."

De Niro made bank by playing disreputable, unlikeable characters. Looks like it went to his head.

You can't truly call yourself "peaceful" unless you are capable of great violence. If you're not capable of great violence, you're not peaceful, you're harmless.

He is REALLY in trouble when mama uses both first and middle names.

Last night we watched the finale of Patrick Melrose, an excellent mini-series on Showtime. Flipped over to the Tony's, hoping to see/hear some current Broadway music. I did hear a bald English fag director leading the audience in "Happy Birthday" to his boyfriend. I scrambled for the remote.

I missed the Tonys. For the 35th time.

Had I known the (cue the violins) Parkland survivors choir was performing, I STILL would not watch.
