Has anyone had any success with dietary supplements to relieve pain from neuropathy in the feet? I've tried numerous topical remedies and non-prescription oral pain killers. but none really seem to help much if at all. I've noticed a couple of supplements on the web that are said to help, but don't put much stock in their "reviews" section since they can be easily manipulated. Any suggestions would be much appreciated!

My wife uses a dietary supplement called "L-Glutamine" produced by Thorne Research, Inc. You can buy this over the counter, but we suggest you use according to your doctors recommendation.

Try Topricin cream. I get it on Amazon.

I was very skeptical but it works. You have to apply every day and give it a week or so.

I now apply it every other day or on days when the buzzes and zaps get really bad.

It doesn't take it all away but it dulls it quite a bit and lets me sleep better.

My Primary Care Physician suggested Vitamin B12 (I take Nature Made brand Super B-Complex) and I can attest to a definite reduction in the severity, length and how often I have an occurrence of neuropathy.

Oh yeah...I forgot...

Magnesium...

Have your Doc check for a magnesium issue.

Mine was a bit low in range...so I take some every second or third day...and that helps too.

How is your HBa1c, fasting glucose. In addition to magnesium and sodium, potassium and B vitamins, vitamin D, etc. I would suggest a lower carbohydrate diet to see if inflammation decreases and blood flow improves. Anything else going on?

... this is not diabetic foot nerve pain ...

There's no cure, but do think about your blood glucose levels.

then ...

-Vitamin b12
-vitamin D
-vitaminE
-Curcumin
-Magnesium
-Zinc
Diet - anti-oxidants and omega-3 fatty acids.

Topracin, as mentioned.
Capsaicin cream, blocks pain signals.. Also may have a burning sensation where applied - chillies.

And movement ... walk around a park, level ground, the dog, that hamster ...

Acupuncture is good.

And at this time of year, socks and slippers.
Warm dry feet.

No other notable problems. I'm closing in on 71 and take no prescription drugs at all. I don't know about the fasting glucose. The one time I saw a doctor back when this started (several years ago), she referred me to a podiatrist and said my only options were likely injections or possibly surgery. In my mind, these were not acceptable options and I did not go to the podiatrist. I've been basically putting up with it since. This year it has become more than an annoyance, and I feel like I need to get a better handle on it, thus my posting. I appreciate your advice, as well as all the others who have posted.

Neither OTC (Over The Counter), nor a supplement, I am taking a prescription med for this.

Gabapentin. You might want to ask your doc about this.

Fairly inexpensive co-pay with my Medicare Part D (prescription drug) coverage.

I have neuropathic pain in both legs and one arm

I am on prescription pain killers which help ok I guess...I also take gabapentin every day which helps A TON.

My wife also recently suggested I start taking magnesium (she is an MD). So far I would say it definitely helps. One of the side effects I have from the spinal condition was muscle trembling (just irritating really) and cramping (which is horrible...imagine every muscle below your waist cramping at the same time...I didn’t even know I had some of these muscles). The magnesium seems to have really helped with that

There are other drugs put there you can talk to your doctor about, like Lyrica. But beware the side effects. I gained over 50 pounds in the 3 months I took lyrica

Good luck

Alpha-Lipoic acid is used by diabetics with neuropathy. Worth a look. Works for me most of the time.

That's good to hear. What has changed in the last year to to make it less tolerable? I tend to lean towards metabolic in nature. As with sugar, how we handle it in our youth is not the same in later years. I hope you find relief. Worth going carnivore for 2 couple weeks to see.

I got this as a Christmas gift. It’s neither a supplement and may or may not help neuropathy but this is the best thing I’ve ever used - for excess swelling of my feet. 3 cycles of this at bedtime and I’m out like a light.

If nothing else helps your neuropathy maybe something like this will help some.

I’m just adding a link instead of trying to describe these calf and foot massagers. They include a link to Amazon.

I’m not Affiliated with the company except as a customer.
