Hello!

Girlfriend and I are going to CO for the weekend. Several of her friends and family will be there to snow board; we don’t - so we are looking for fun stuff to do. No, no marijuana will be ingested! We are staying in Glenwood Springs.

What fun stuff is there to do in the area?

Thank you!

Jim

Tubing is loads of fun. You can do it at Copper Mountain or in Frisco. You need a reservation. It's not too close to Glenwood though.

Hard to think of what else to do in the mountains if you aren't a skier. Hot springs. check out historic towns, like Leadville. Vail is a quaint little village if you walking around and window shopping.

The big pool, is where we always stopped on our way back from hunting. It's one of the big attractions. Their are others, and hot caves, massages, etc.

I haven't really stayed over there this time of year however. Have a safe trip.

If you go to Vail, take a buttload of cash!!

Hike to Doc Holiday’s grave. Ride the mountain roller coaster at the adventure park. Hike to Hanging Lake. Rent a bike and ride Glenwood canyon. Drive to Carbondale and have White House pizza. Go see Redstone, visit the castle.

Eat at Charcoal Burger.

Eating at the Woody Creek Tavern where Hunter Thompson used to hang out is pretty cool. Funky place with some decent food.

The various hot springs in that general area are a good bet. There are casinos in Cripple Creek if you enjoy that kind of thing. Maybe also closer. I’m not a gambler so don’t know much about that.

It's a winter activity. You need snow.

I don't mean tubing down a river. The resorts have tubing slopes.

Doc Holidays Tavern is a neat little place to have a drink.

At the Polanka Polish Restaurant, you’ll find some really authentic Polish food.

Be mindful of the road conditions and the fact that I-70 traffic crawls/stops due to weekend skier traffic. Friday and Sunday evenings are to be avoided. If traveling due West out of Denver on a Saturday morning, get past Golden no later than 6am or expect to spend a couple additional hours in traffic.

Big pool in Glenwood and a wander around
Aspen. That should keep you busy for a 2 day trip.

Used to live and work just a little west of Glenwood. Maybe you’d enjoy having breakfast or lunch at Shooters Grill in Rifle, about 25 miles away. Almost positive there was even a thread about the restaurant here in the Forum. This is the place where waitresses all open carry at work. The food’s actually pretty good.
