My kid was given a unique coin bank at birth. Collected 1996 circulated coins to put in it at the time. This isn't a prepping or investing plan, just coins to spread out on the floor as a kid, stack, practice counting etc. More recently the bank went missing during a remodel. I remember moving it, but not to where. I had thought that when I reorganized the house I would find it, but I did (reorganize), and I haven't (found it). I found a replacement bank that matches the original, but now those coins are a lot older, and, like most, I don't deal much in coins. I've explored options a bit. It's not an option to buy bags of coins from coinstar vendors and sort through them. I can try to do something with the banks, but I'd like to find a simpler solution. Because these coins don't have intrinsic additional value, unless they are mis-strikes, ebay or coin stores aren't viable options. Does anyone have another solution to explore that I'm not thinking of? _________________________ NRA Endowment Member _________________________ "Of all tyrannies, a tyranny exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. You could go to your bank and buy rolls of coins. After you sort through them, take the ones you don't want back to the bank and get money back.

1996 proof sets are going for less than $20. Often way less. You could start with that and then just look thru your change. ____________ Pace

I already have silver proof sets. I haven't dealt in change in years. I've messaged the banker to see what she can facilitate. Still hoping for another option. _________________________ NRA Endowment Member _________________________ "Of all tyrannies, a tyranny exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. Probably the best you're going to do is "Birth Year Coin Sets". $16.00 each for uncirculated coins. Cheaper for circulated but harder to find. Good luck. ____________ Pace

Have a lot of “merer” quarters. Will check if an ‘96s. Hopefully your invisible friends can help you out, because of course once you replace the coins you’ll find the original bank.

The half-dollars were elsewhere, so I'm good on them, but thank you for offering! _________________________ NRA Endowment Member _________________________ "Of all tyrannies, a tyranny exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. Man, I’m having a day. Meant to edit, instead quoted and didn’t notice. Edited to fix typo: Whoops, meter, not merer. ETA: Went through the meter stashes: $7.25 in the lovely bride’s car, $7.25 in the family truck, and $24.25 in my work truck. Five 1995 quarters, one 1993, two 1965, but no 1996. In addition to all the quarters, in my work truck there was a New Zealand coin marked 10. From my time working in London I’d think 10 P or 10 pence, but I don’t know New Zealand money, it might be 10 cents. The funny thing? It’s dated 1996. It’s yours if you want it. Email sent.

I have looked through hundreds of coins and found 2 pennies and three quarters. Strangely, as I was picking through a pile of coins, I was almost finished and didn't find any when I came across all of the 1997 coins right next to each other.

I appreciate everyone's efforts very much. In honor of everyone's generosity of time and talent I'll keep an eye out for the next forum approved charitable thread and make a donation in the names of all those who have participated here. _________________________ NRA Endowment Member _________________________ "Of all tyrannies, a tyranny exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive.
