This is the time of year when our Shepard/Malamute mixed dogs shed - in chunks it seems. Where these two dogs (110 lbs and 150 lbs) shed, every day, enough fur a Pomeranian would be well covered.

Backyard is covered and sweeping the house is a twice daily chore. Get busy and fail to sweep in a 36 hour period and you're collecting a 4" ball of fur - and this is a week after spending a day brushing them both out.

My Anatolian did too, but our GSD’s are making up for it. They only shed twice a year, 6 months at a time.

Consider this, using those these two dogs easily fill one of your standard 13- gallon kitchen trash bag - per dog - and there's still enough fur on the grass to look like a light snowfall hit. (I use something similar)

Part of the reason I greatly prefer short haired breeds (Boxers, Boston, Danes, etc). No grooming bills either Wink

We have what someone in this Forum called a “German Shedder.” It’s always shedding season, sometimes it’s just worse than others.

I was just going to suggest this. It works wonders on my Shepherd.

We've had an Akita/Husky mix, 2 Huskies, & 2 German Shepherds; the Furminator has worked the best for us & I use to manage a pet store so had access to all the gadgets. My male Husky is blowing his coat out now. We've never had an issue with matting, just shedding.

I actually use a shop-vac to get all the fur off the hardwood floors. It is a never ending battle to keep up.

I've got a Husky and you can brush enough fur off her with a furminator to make another dog. All summer long...

If I ever have a dog again (after our current Lab) it will be a non-shedding variety. Which Furminator do you guys use. It seems all their products are named that.

It does a wonderful job on our 2 dogs. I just wish they didn't shed 12 months a year.

A Lab rescue and an Akita mix rescue, non stop shedding.

Rogue, Furminators come in all sizes. The one we use on our lab is about 4 inches wide.
Coco doesn’t particularly enjoy having her loose fur raked. It’s not like ear scratches or belly rubs, but a few treats helps her deal with the distraction.
