Damn, John Deere parts are expensive. I have a GT235 with a damaged hood and front bumper. Do any of you have a source for discounted John Deere parts?

I agree. I have a 20 year old JD 16 hp tractor/mower. The plastic hood cracked. $450 on Fleabay. Absolutely rediculous. Its not worth much more than that.

Is your 235 Hood "mashed up" or is there one crack in it? Cracking hoods seem to be common in the Deere line. My neighbor had a 235 which he bought new and the hood cracked after about 7 years and a lot of hours. I tried to get him to let me help him do a repair on the crack but he didn't want to fix it and after another year or two it pretty well fell apart. Then he found out how expensive the part was. A single crack should be repairable. If it ran into something and got all mashed up that's a different story.

I've had good luck with these guys. I bought a hood for a 445 a few years back. Way cheaper than the John Deere dealer.
