Des Moines: 770 days without more than 3" of snow
Des Moines received somewhere around 5" of snow today. Wrecks everywhere. It was too cold to pretreat and it came down quicker than the plows could keep up with. Cars stuck everywhere. There was a 70 car fatality pileup in Ames. Me and 2 guys helped a lady in her 2015 Escape on a side road. She, like many cars couldn't make it up a slight incline due to lack of plowing. Her Escape was completely worthless in the snow. I think the cheap tires the buy here pay here store slapped on were part of the problem. Anyway, despite people thinking Iowa is the great white wilderness, this snow broke 770 days without more than 3" of snow. While we did have a white Christmas this year, St. Louis has had many multiples of the amount.of snow we had in that amount of time.

Not as much snow down here either. We have a chance of 2" tomorrow. Big deal. There hasn't been a good scare and run on the supermarkets for several years. Need a good 8-12" snowfall.

Actually, come to think of it, you're right. The last two Christmases we bought my parents commercial snow plowing for the year. I think they only came once. Cheapest present ever.

The St Louis issue is my fault, gents. Bought my Subie Crosstrek in Feb '15 to increase the odds of getting home from work. Bought our '18 Outback for Mrs. M-11. Haven't had enough snow since to see what they can/can't do!!

Lived most of my life in Buffalo dealing with horrific snow storms. People learned to drive pretty well even when four wheel drive was not common. Most pile ups there happened when idiots did not realize four wheel drive on ice pretty much equals 4 wheel slide if you are not driving properly.
I vacated communist NY a couple years ago for north central Arizona and have seen 3 dust it’s of snow melted by noon and that is as much as I need to see. People here get all excited when snow is forecasted since they see it so rarely. They even had to have a PSA telling people from Phoenix not to stop on the shoulders on the curvy mountain roads in our area to play in the snow

The display of driving ineptitude the last 2 days has been impressive here. Yesterday I saw someone in a Subaru Legacy take a roundabout too tight and beached it on the curb. Semis attempting hills only to get stuck blocking everybody else. I haven't seen many collisions yet, people know how to give each other space by now in this season of winter driving. The -11 temperature this morning made many streets still adventurous. The good neighbor next door snow thrower'ed our sidewalk and driveway knowing we are sidelined and sleep deprived with a 3 week old. I gave him a bag of deer sausage as thanks.

Were you at the Sabres game the year it snowed so hard during the game that several hundred fans stayed overnight inside the Aud?
