About 4 years ago I purchased a ZModo 4 camera (PoE) DVR set-up. The DVR has crapped out - it won't record. I can still watch live, it just won't record. ZMODO support is of no use. I've reset it to factory settings, I've wiped the hard-drive. No luck. Any ideas? If not, who do you recommend for a replacement dvr? Hedley Lamarr: Wait, wait, wait. I'm unarmed. Bart: Alright, we'll settle this like men, with our fists. Hedley Lamarr: Sorry, I just remembered . . . I am armed.

I saw a 4ch ZModo system on EBay for $129. With them being that cheap just buy another one. The cost of just one cam that I use is already more than these whole system and the DVR's are substantially more sophisticated and more expensive as well. I'd just buy another cheap setup again at that price. Maybe you could find one with four more cams AND eight POE ports and have a eight unit system for cheap.

Speaking of surveillance system NVRs: If Shaql doesn't mind if I piggy-back on his thread... Anybody have any thoughts on using a Synology NAS' Surveillance Station software for an NVR? I've been playing with it in conjunction with a Reolink C1 Pro (only camera I currently have that'll talk to the Synolgy SS) and it seems to be pretty decent. Figured, since I'm already paying to run that NAS 24x7 (using it for an OTA TV DVR app), if the SS app is adequate I'll use that in conjunction with some good IP cameras. (Thinking a couple different Dahua PoE cams.) As an aside: I'm in a bit of a Catch 22 situation. I'd like to have another camera to play with, but I can't afford the cams I want, right now, and I don't want to pay "real money" for a cam I won't end-up using. So if anybody's got any half-way kinda sorta decent unused PoE IP cams they'd care to sell for cheap, I might could be interested. "America is at that awkward stage.
