What it looks like when you are desperate I suppose. Organic Prepper has this incredible vid of a large swarm attack on a truck of sugar.

That's with a gradual economic collapse. In the case of a sudden collapse (like grid down) I'll bet that kinda thing would be common within days.

When people say we are civilized I always want to ask..."what would you do to protect and feed your family?"

Society today has no idea ow close we are to this.... 5 days and the inner cities would burn...2 weeks and they would be in the suburbs

Reminds me of a conversation with a pacificst prepper a few years back.

He said: "I've stockpiled a lot of food and know where to go to find more so if there is a total breakdown in society I am sure to be able to eat for a long time, how are you going to find food to eat?

I said: I have guns, have stockpiled a lot of ammunition, and know where the people are who have stockpiled food. If society goes MAD MAX, I'm sure I'll eat just fine.

Oddly enough the conversation didn't go much past that.

5 days? You mean moments after their basketball team loses. Or wins.

Interestingly enough, I was listening on the radio that despite draconian gun restriction laws in Mexico, this year Mexico is on track for a record amount of murders. The number was over 11,000 at this time. I suspect that the government of Venezuela has an easier time hiding such stats. Here's the Venezuela timeline quoted from the same web site.

"The country has been on the way down since a socialist government destroyed the economy. Here’s a quick timeline:

Private ownership of guns was banned in 2012. Then things began to go downhill in a hurry.
In 2013, preppers were relabeled “hoarders” and the act of stocking up became illegal.
In 2014, the government instituted a fingerprint registry for those who wished to buy food to ensure they didn’t take more than their “share.”
In 2015, things began to devolve more quickly as electricity began to be rationed and farmers were forced to turn over their harvests to the government.
2016 brought the announcement that folks were on their own – there was simply not enough food. As well, despite the rationing, an electricity shortage was announced.
2016 also brought the news that the country was out of everything: food, medicine, and nearly all basic necessities. People were dying of starvation and malnourishment made other illnesses even worse. Hyperinflation brought exorbitant prices, like $150 for a dozen eggs.
Now, civil war is near (if not already happening.) They’re calling it “protests” but violence between the people and the government is ongoing. This rage is stoked by wealthy Venezuelans who enjoy luxurious meals, fabulous parties, and lush accommodations while the rest of the country struggles to find a bag of rice they can afford. Let them eat cake?"

How right you are.
I live in the suburbs. We think it's safe here, because most of the crime is in the City. But it's an illusion. If society breaks down, they will be trying to escape the City.

Big Grin

However, you will have to fend off others. Those with food will make quick alliances for protection.

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."

Are you saying you would shoot and kill innocent families to take their food in tough times?

Because that is what it sounds like you are saying.

Sounds a little like North Korea, without the nukes and with the appearance of a representative government.
Nearby countries should be very worried what will happen once the inevitable implosion happens. Since many of their neighbors are socialists, the finger will get pointed at the US since it can't be their own fault.
Then what?

You're in Mad Max times. You do what you have to feed and take care of your family and your own. That's the shakes.

Only Democrats, which rules out innocence. And just because you have guns doesn't mean you need to kill them. Consider it "redistribution of food wealth" Wink

Wrong. You take steps ahead of time to take care of YOUR family.

Not use it as an excuse to take from those less well-off than yourself. Do that - and you are a criminal opportunist and a raider. You're no better than the thugs in the ghetto these days who rationalize their violent culture.

Your attitude disgusts me. Future events like that reveal the true colors of men. You revealed yours.

Haha, ok, pal. A little too much coffee today?

Good grief. Take a second to think about what you're posting before saying crap like that to another member.

I simply commented that in an anarchist world, you may find yourself doing things that you never thought you would do in order to see that your family is safe and fed. That doesn't translate into murdering "innocent" people at random as a means to survive.
