Are you prepared to go back to work in nine months when you miss it ?

Or when they call you in 8 weeks and offer you more money to come back to work for more money ?

It's happened to three of the six people I know.

I’m getting calls to work even as I’m driving across the country lol.

Appalachia is beautiful and from where I was (Johnson City) it was a short drive to locations that made you feel like you were in the middle of nowhere. Lots of forest service land, rivers, quiet mountain tops, available firewood, etc. The west is beautiful too but one of my biggest concerns about living there would be the lack of readily available water and hard times should the power go out.

Our temporary house is near Tazewell which is on the other side of the lake from the big property where we are building the homestead

DF,

Good luck on your next adventures. I’m looking forward to reading the stories. When I was a kid, I used to wonder how people just up and moved across the country and started a new life. As an adult, I wonder how people don’t just up and move to start a different chapter in life. I have moved so much these past 15 years.

I hear people say they want to find a home and settle down. I don’t agree totally. To me, home isn't necessarily a place. Home is where the heart is. If it weren’t for the winters, I’d live in rural Montana. It’s absolutely beautiful there.
