On the shelf they only had 4-6 lb cut ribs, but I was able to sweet talk the meat guy into bringing an uncut one out from the back for me, 19.36 lb.

I’ll do 1/2 in the Sous Vide for Christmas and cut the rest into steaks.

I bought a whole one (8 Ribs) for $120, but these bastards ripped me off by 2¢ per pound, requiring an additional $25 purchase.

Our local BIG Y(MA/CT) area is $6.99, for a loss leader. Picked up an 18 pounder for Christmas Eve.

HEB has it for a little under $6 a pound. I do not like rare meat so I cut my ribeye roast into steaks and cook them that way. I bought $100 worth today, made one 2” thick steak on the grill, set aside two more for Christmas and vacuum packed/frozen the rest. I may buy some more this week since it is on sale.

I saw their select grade was $5.47/lb. How was the tenderness and marbling?

Their other grades are pretty salty at $17.99/lb for the natural angus (i.e. choice and no antibiotics, no added growth hormones, no artificial ingredients and no preservatives) and $19.99/lb for Prime.

Went to two different stores, the second store had a better selection. The meat was very tender and seemed like a higher grade with good marbling. The first store did not have that great of a selection. I did not think it was worth paying for the higher grades although I used to buy prime.

I went to Publix one day and noticed that the rib roasts on sale had almost no marbling at $9.99. However the ribeye steaks at $14.99 did have pretty good marbling, as if they were a different grade or etc.......I went to Publix again yesterday and did find one rib roast that had fairly good marbling (the other 5 sucked) and bought it, to cut into steaks.
