Wife has a handful of post cards with stamps of 1,2,3,4 and 5 cent denomination. All on postcards and all cancelled which I realize reduces what little value they may have under ideal conditions. In fact, I suspect the postcards are probably worth more than the stamps in any event. I took some pictures and went online and found them, but of course they want you to join for $25/month to get their opinion on value which may or may not reflect actual value. At this point, I'm mostly interested in finding out if it's even worth pursuing, which I doubt. Anyone willing to look at a half-dozen pictures and venture an opinion? No strings attached and I fully realize it's just a "best guess" situation. Be careful when following the masses. Sometimes the M is silent.

It seems that stamps are worth squat these days. https://sigforum.com/eve/forum...800091615#5800091615 ———————————————— The world's not perfect, but it's not that bad. Tried to explain that to my wife, but she insisted that I check. Be careful when following the masses. Sometimes the M is silent.

Yeah, I've got quite a few stamps from Australia, Singapore, Germany, etc... Lots of color and spectacular imagery. Can't give them away.

If you know the Scotts number for the stamps, you can get a very rough sense of value by looking at eBay listings. (And when I say very rough....I mean VERY rough. The listings that endure are those with ridiculously high asking prices, so caveat browser.) Could also try Stamp Community Forum link If it turns out any of them have potential, it would then possibly be worth getting to specifics. The postcards themselves, cancellations, sender/recipient names, etc. can also affect the values. It's about perceived collectability. If you post the pics that might help.

My mom had a casual collection from the 70’s. A little checking on eBay showed her type of stamps about worthless. There may be an exception, interests change over time.

If the stamps are stuck to postcards , you basically have a bunch of conversation pieces . The postcards may actually be more collectible .

Younger generations aren't interested in collecting rare things. I have an exceptional collection of aviation and space autographs and a few artifacts. They are worth a fraction of what they were 50 years ago, not even including inflation. I have theories about why, but the bottom line is that few people under age 60 care about this sort of thing any more.

Those blue books that I filled with every penny minted. They are probably worth about a penny! LOL!

My brother and I collected stamps in the 70's and 80's. Had a nice collection of sheets, First day issues, commemoratives, coils and older stamps. He recently contacted a couple of Dealers, as he no longer has any interest in the collection. Holy crap. Uncanceled stamps are pretty much worth face value, and the Dealers will not pay face value. They recommended he use them as postage. I was shocked to say the least. I did not think we would make a fortune on his collection, but expected he would make something. Niech Zyje P-220 Steve

All of the above confirming my suspicions. I have no interest in collecting, wife thought she might make a few bucks. Not happening. Postcards have some sentimental value as they are from/to family members in the 40's and 50's. They'll be kept for that reason. Be careful when following the masses. Sometimes the M is silent.
