Was wondering if anyone has any experience with cold laser therapy for dogs. Have a Great Dane that is nearly 9 years old and has some arthritis with his back legs. He is on some medications and they don’t really seem to be helping. Our vet suggested looking into cold laser therapy. I realize he is an old dog and nearing the end but other than his back legs he is healthy so if this will give him a little more time I'm open to it but don’t want throw money away for no reason.

He slipped a disc or something similar & was pretty much paralyzed in the rear.

Laser seems to be helping, but I don't know much more than that.

As she got older and stiffer, we had several sessions done to our former Maltipoo for pain in her surgically repaired luxated patella. Couldn’t really tell that it did much long term, but it does warm up the area treated and may increase blood flow for a while. Can be a little stressful for the dog since they have to wear protective goggles during the few minutes of treatment, but ours didn’t seem to mind it much.

I figured it couldn’t hurt and might help so we gave it a try for a while, but like I said, really didn’t notice much of an improvement. Each dog is different though, so YMMV. Best of luck if you decide to give it a try.

This you will either find odd or reassuring. My father was a DVM for 58 years. He believed strongly in CLT. So much so, he'd frequently use it on himself.

It made a huge difference for my 15 year old Nova Scotia Duck Toller. He had arthritis in his back and hips. We saw real improvement in his mobility and pain reduction. I highly recommend you give it a shot.

I was skeptical when my vet recommended it for my bullmastiff when she hurt her knee. She responded extremely well to the treatments. Also, my vet now recommends CBD in some cases. It has helped my 20 year old cat's arthritis.
