I ordered hot buffalo wings at a local watering hole a couple weeks ago and the waitress informs me that all their wings were boneless now because bone-in wings had become too expensive and they would have to charge too much for them.

I’m like, what on earth are you talking about? Confused

That's always been my take on it too. Too much effort for the amount of meat you get from one. Although Gustofer's video was interesting, I might have to try that out.

It sounds really bizarre, but it's true, and not a brand-new phenomenon.

Bigger chickens means more scrap meat byproduct that can be turned into "boneless tenders." But bigger chickens also means fewer chickens a farmer can support, which means fewer wings. Then there's the woody breast issue. Chicken farmers are gonna have to sort this one out.

We hit one of the local WingHouse locations last week, 15 wings, iced tea, $22 before tip, so $25 out the door.

Publix has 18 to 20 wings for $10 so that's going to be my source from now on when I need wings.

Although the wife is probably not gonna let me hire a few college girls to bring them to me wearing hot pants and tight shirts.

A young girl ask me what they do with the rest of the chicken after they take the wings.

Yes, she was a blonde.

Zaxby's, a chain operating mostly in the South, has "traditional" (i.e., with bones) and boneless wings. The "traditional" costs a little bit more. I liked them a lot more before they started doing this. The food, only passable to start with, has gone up in price and down in quality (the last tenders I had were tougher than a military boot) overall, so I rarely go there any more.

Me, too. I go by Popeye's about once a week and get 2 mild breasts, an order of green beans, a small red beans and rice, and 4 biscuits. Makes a nice dinner.

Many years ago I often ate at a small Chinese restaurant across the highway from Shaw AFB, SC. They had a menu item "Boneless fried chicken" and I usually teased them by asking to see their flock of boneless chickens. (It was a good meal--a boneless half breast sautéed and sliced onto a nest of lettuce with a brown sauce over it--very tasty. I've not found another place that offers it, unfortunately.)
