Curious to hear you guys’ best gun deal you have taken advantage of over your years. Mine as maybe 25 years ago I was pulling out of the PD parking after punching out around 0600. A vehicle turned into the lot and a woman flagged me down. She said her husband died recently and she had his gun collection in the trunk she wished to “turn in”. Long story short , I gave her what I had in my wallet (under $20. In turn, I received a smith and Wesson pump shotgun and 2 Marlin model 60 .22LR rifles. She also had a calf high sports sock that contained a handgun. That’s what really drew my attention. That sock contained a fair condition HK P7 M13, which was loaded and chambered. Unfortunately I don’t still have that pistol as I sold it to pay off a credit card for 4K. Any other cool scores you guys make over the years ?

I was willed a 1930 Colt Officer's Model in 9/10 shape. It's the target pistol in .22.



I also scored a factory nickel S&W Model 19-6 with walnut target grips, and case hardened trigger and hammer for $450.



That is probably the best deal that I paid for.

Don't know which one is better, but there have been a few.
S&W 645...my LGS had is on display for $600; but, when they put it online, they listed it for $430, so I checked out as soon as I saw it. When I picked it up, the manager told me they messed up and were debating whether or not to cancel the sale, but decided to honor it (I bought a few more used guns from them over the years)

A P6 when they started showing up. After that a few mags with the circular funny wear from being carried in mag pouches. After that some Wolf springs for the mags. After that resisting temptation to fire expensive ammo. Sorry, no steel cases, though.

Believe it or not it was a Glock.
Everyone has heard about the “gilled” Glock’s and there was initially 6 different models with the Glock 22 being the most common.

The least common one is the Glock 22C and I found one online and bought it for $450 to round out my collection of all 6. At the time I didn’t realize how rare it is and the only time I’ve seen one sell individually on GB it went for $5k.

I eventually sold my collection of gilled Glock’s but I did keep the 22C. I wished I would have also kept the 19 but oh well.

Three of us went to purchase a Sig P6 when they were first available. $285.00 each with blue box and extra mag.

A client and wife were living in California many years ago. She wanted something for protection. Purchased a S&W 4054. Years later they moved to Wyoming and really didn't like the pistol; she wanted a .22 pistol.
I purchased the 4054 for $350.00. Found out it was made in 1991 with a total production of 157 of them.

A High Standard Sport King .22 for $20 Buddy needed drinking money. Sweet little shooter and for whatever reason I was deadly with it.

Some years later went on a trading frenzy and sold it. Been kicking myself in the ass ever since.

Purchased an M1 Garand cheap from my uncle-in-law.

Probably the NIB Walther P1 we picked up at Kmart for $88 in 1970.

Years ago when my neighbor across the street was moving, he'd asked my father if he was interested in buying his rifle. Dad sent him to me. It was a like new Remington 700 ADL in .30-06

His asking price, he just wanted what be paid for it in the late 60's, $125.00

Bought a 1971 Colt Python snubbie for a long since closed Edelmans Gus Store, LINY guys would know it. They were liquidating their stock. Got the revo for 300, sold it a few yrs. back for almost 3k. My buddy who was with me at the time purchased a complete Desert Eagle Pistol Pack, I don't know what he paid, but he flipped it a few yrs. back.

A S&W 1076 for $600. Guy walking the floor told me it was a “genuine” FBI gun. If only he had called S&W he would have known it really was. I sent off for the letter showing it went to Quantico. I recognized the TEU serial number prefix when I inspected it. I didn’t even haggle. Just handed over my money.

I'd like to think, in today's prices, most of my buys would be scores but two that come to mind are a minty Beretta 70s in 22lr with 2 mags (I still have a mental image seeing it under glass and couldn't pull out my wallet fast enough-$350) and a Mini-14 (194-) on GB from the lgs I bought most of my guns from, I was the only bidder, $450.

$100 for an Inland M-1 carbine
$100 for a S&W 44-40 revolver- 100th anniversary of the Texas Wagon Train. Traded it for a .380 Seecamp and 2 extra mags.

I “picked up” a T- series BHP off a guy who, well, let’s just say would never use it again.
But my dumb ass sold it because I needed some $. Worst decision about guns I ever made. I’m still upset about that one 30+ years ago.

Way back in the 90's I traded my Winchester pre-64 Model 70 in .257 Roberts straight up for a Smith pre-model 27 with the 3.5 inch barrel and the original coke grips.

I shot that pistol some back then but it is now a safe queen. I have a few other pre-model Smith revolvers but this one is my favorite. I should probably start selling them before I croak.
