Yes and No. I have a cousin who owns and runs a multi-million dollar farm. How he has expanded it and paid off debt is rather amazing. For example, he put in the first custom built robotic milking parlor west of the Mississippi. It’s amazing watching these robots feed, milk, test, and generally do everything related to milking for the cows without human interaction. And that is only part of what he does. He “only” has a high school degree.

On the other hand, I wouldn’t want him anywhere near my wife when she was pregnant even though he has probably delivered more calves than a retired OB/GYN has delivered babies. There is a place and time for book education, common sense, and work experience and sometimes they do not overlap.
