Actually, a 2017 study showed that injuries are more likely in flag football than tackle ball.

I have to say football injuries are not if but when and how bad. My parents flat-out refused to let any of their 3 boys play. And this was the 70s and early 80s. I played soccer and gravitated to non traditional physical hobbies like medieval recreational fighting (which I did for 25+ years).
My son played high level baseball through HS and on a wood bat mens league. As a catcher, I did worry sometimes

While I agree it shouldn't be legalisation I also feel parents should really place their kids' safety first and steer them (the kids) toward flag football. Issues really arise when 13 year old Johnny, who might weigh 100lbs soaking wet, is hit by 13 year old Timmy who's been shaving the last two years and weighs a solid 180. Toss in the fact parents and coaches are aggressively cheering on little Timmy to do it again and then set his eyes on Gregory, you have a recipe for disaster.
Flag football kind of evens the playing field with regards to a size advantage and places the emphasis on skill, speed, and agility for the specific position.

You enjoy watching 14 year olds break knees and get concussions?

I played eight years of straight up football. Four years varsity in high school and four years div 3 college. My four years playing high school ball essentially defined who I am today and prepared me to absorb the hardships of a four year military Academy. To this day I have not endured anything that I didn't belive that I could overcome due to those four ass kicking years.
What I'm talking about here are high school age kids. I didn't play football until I was in the 9th grade. So if we're talking about peewee football, yeah I'd likely agree that full contact tackling isn't doing anyone any benefit.

Perception isn't reality and frankly the average person is an idiot who repeats shit they hear but doesn't read anything (i.e. form opinions based on knowledge).
I played football. The odd thing is my friends who played soccer (even one who was on women's US national team) have more ACL injuries than my friends who played football. Most didn't elect to get the surgery either so they live in fear of the knee buckling and tearing out the meniscus so they avoid recreation sports.
As far as concussions,
girl's soccer has a higher per capita concussion rate than boy's football which is only 1% higher than boy's soccer and girl's basketball.

Not sure how to respond to your attempt to call me out when your reference for allowing pre- high school is based on how your high school football days define you.
How about boxing. Let's say your 100 lb Johnny gets to box 180 Timmy. Since they're both in the 14 year-old class you should be the first to tell Johnny to "get back out there, hit him harder" right? Should be all good until they get into high school a divided into weight classes, right.
Before explaining how your high school football days define you please realize, the discussion is about the time before high school years.

arcwelderLets pump the brakes, guys.
Sports, are recreational.
If a sport can be made safer, everyone benefits.
How early should we have kids participating in any sport, have their brains repeatedly be slammed into their skulls?
If you're willing to beat your chest with your dick out over this, I assume you'll not be upset when the National Felon League has another near inevitable issue with a player committing assault or worse. Which they will blame on CTE.
Perhaps any activity where anyone could be subject to CTE should be scrutinized.
Football, is not important. It simply isn't.
Arc.
