I'm in the process of eating tuna: Signature brand solid white Albacore in water. It's OK and about what I expected. "Signature" is, I think, the store brand for Albertson's.

Geez I hope that Kirkland is able to maintain their standards. I have not consumed another brand in decades.

I think a lot of brands of all kinds of different merchandise (including foodstuffs) are going to be experimenting with just what they might be able to get away with before Bidenomics is through ravaging the worlds economy.

The Wild Planet brand Albacore tuna sold at Costco and a lot of regular grocery stores is a lot better than the Kirkland brand. It costs more, but it at least has decent size solid pieces. It's not bad for water-packed tuna. I haven't found any cheaper tuna that is water-packed that we can stand. It's all mushy. We normally buy tuna packed in olive-oil and usually mail order it.

I gave up on "water with tuna" a long time ago.
Bumble Bee was the last straw. Nothing but water.
I buy Port Side tuna from Save-a-lot. Packed to the top with solid tuna and good flavor.

Another thing to stay away from is the big name Crab Meat in water. Last can I was sucker enough to buy had just a slight residue of crab meat left in the bottom after draining it.

...maybe the factory got the lutefisk tailings confused with the tuna cat food line?.....

Pretty happy with the Kirkland solid white albacore in water. I prefer to control what olive oil is added and how much. Not sure of the quality of the olive oil when its already in the can.

Best tuna is packed in olive oil, better flavor and meat doesn't degrade or 'dry out' like it does in water.

Brands I prefer
Ortiz
Genova (Costco occasionally carries)
Dong Won (these are usually packed in sauce)(Costco occasionally carries)
Tonnino

Bonus: a field expedient solution only a soldier could come up with.

The nice thing about tuna in water is that I saved the water along with a couple small chunks of tuna and my cat loved it.

Our cat loves tuna and / or salmon flavored dry food, but won't touch water or small pieces of tuna from a can. Weird animal!

Yes, you do have a weird cat. My cat could be in another room at the other end of the house and would be in the kitchen within seconds of me opening a can of tuna.

This thread has made me hungry for tuna salad. So, this morning I got two cans of Bumble Bee chunk tuna out and made some tuna salad. I will let it sit in the fridge till supper time and then fill a deli roll with it. I do hope it is as good as I want it to be.
