I've got one: GW-5000-1JF.

Big G Shock fan, have had a few different ones over the years. Currently have the Solar/Atomic Rangeman, Frogman, and Gulfman.

Have been thinking of getting the GW9300 Solar/Atomic Mudman next. Also looking at the GW9400 Solar/Atomic Rangeman in green with the black out display.

I got this from Dave Truong. The light is bright enough to use as a flashlight. I've also always thought that analog watches were easier to read, but that may be just me.

I got onme of the first solar atomic models and it lasted 16 years. Not bad for getting banged around in prison. got it for 30 bucks at walmart on clearnace. When it quit working I bought a rangeman for around 300. I like it for the metal buttons but really didnt need the compass barometer altimeter etc.

I've had a PW-2500 Pro Trek going on 8 years. I converted it to Nato straps to make it seem a bit thinner. My only criticism of the watch is that it is a bit thick. Then again I have fairly small wrists.
Functionally I really like the watch. I've used all the functions at some point. Speaks to my inner geek.
I've beat on mine pretty good and it still looks really good. Minor wear on the black near edges of compass ring.
The Nato straps are very comfortable and also allow me to change up the look in about 10 seconds. One gets dirty I throw it in the next load of laundry.
Highly recommended.

I have this exact watch, purchased in May 2019. I bought bull bars to protect it a bit since I do tend to be a bit rough with watches. I love mine... one of those purchases you realize you nailed and the search is over. I had Luminoxes for years then a Fitbit for a year then this one. No plans to change, matter of fact if something happens I will buy another as it likely would be my abuse it dies of. The bull bars have really taken the brunt though. I will also say I first wanted the reverse screen that was black but after getting this one I plan to stay with the standard screen.

Got this one as well. Larger display, not ungodly big at all. Price is perfect as well.

I agree with the OP totally about avoiding the blacked-out G-Shock models.

They are great looking watches, but very hard to see in at anything less than very bright ambient light.

I wanted to get a basic (e.g., cheap) G-Shock, and found one of the blacked-out models for a good price. It is Model DW-5600BBN-1. Unfortunately, I soon found out it is very hard to see the display in ambient light.

I then bought a "standard" G-Shock (Model GMWB5000G-1), which is easy to see but has a fair amount of writing on the case and the glass surrounding the number display. So I switched its guts into the case of the black-out model, and got what I wanted.

Now I have two G-Shocks, one that is easy to see, and one that is not (e.g., my backup).

I bought these watches 6 months ago, and the one I use is perfectly on time.

Had this one for 12 years. I use it to set all the other watches. Lightweight and no rubber band to break. Still for sale at WallyWorld.

I’m not big into Casios I only have three.
But after picking up a solar Pathfinder from a member here it inspired me to buy another solar Casio and I find I really like them for work.

I love that GG1000. If they made it in solar it would have been my first choice. I don’t understand Casio. Seems like solar powered watches would be a no brainer across their lineup. What is holding them back?
