doing some basic research on satisfaction with the newer electric version of the old hydraulic wood splitter....

this is for a small home use seasonal project, 5 or 6 cords/year.

Do any first hand user/operators have warnings/invectives/useful stories either pro or con?

A few years ago I watched a guy use a small ground based model that ate thru considerable stack with minimal effort. It was a bit slow, but there are numerous models out there with stands & faster operation than 20+ seconds for ram operation.

The DR has several models run by fly wheel driven ram rather than hydraulic ram, & they seem feasible.

For that much firewood I would go with a real splitter. Either gas or pto. Or just use a maul and wedge and take your time and enjoy the work.

I have one...

It does the job but is a bit slow.

For the cord or two I burn, it’s fine. I would not want to go any higher than that.

I have the Homelite 5 ton. It gets excellent reviews and is $269.

I have only had about 2-3 times in 4 years that I could get through something.

I agree, that is not a small amount in my opinion.

The one in the first video Beancooker posted is a thing of beauty. I had to quit watching the second video. I didn't want to see what happens when he sticks his leg on it.
