If it was me, I'd have them arrested for trespassing. Scum like that deserve no less.

An even bigger problem for me is their inability to own up their screw up.
"How would you feel if this happened to you?"
"I don't know."
You're a bold face liar or too stupid. Obviously both.
"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Viktor Frankl, Man's Search for Meaning, 1946.

I had "reporters" knock on my door once wanting dirt on a city council woman that was killed in an accident. She was my next door neighbor. They found a "roach" in her car and wanted some kind of dirt. I let them know what I thought of reporters and their hack job on Richard Jewel. Then I demanded they leave my property as I slammed my door on them.

I once had a news cameraman, driving a fully marked news vehicle, show up at a crash scene. And he was drunk! I enjoyed that thoroughly. I would be involved in something the night before and when looking at the "news" coverage, often wondered if I was even there.

I take it that "Deanna" is the assignment editor. Day to day, AE's assigns who goes where, who covers what. What's "news" for a given day is decided by higher ups, usually in a meeting in the morning, AE's at the bottom of that authority chain.
Some AE's are sharp enough, others sheep unqualified to do real work. However able, they can be called on to make decisions as the day's news changes. The idiots regularly make stupid choices. I had one AE who was totally unaware the St.Charles, Mo was a different entity than St. Charles County, Mo.
Don't think that news media are solely populated by thoughtful, aware people making wise decisions about what you need to know.

Sheriff Morgan of Escambia County, FL cut off the local newspaper from access to ECSO. Now they have to get their news from public press releases. Maybe this chief will do the same.

This was great work by the police.
I'll never forget Carter Evans, of CBS news, interviewing a brand new widow of a hotshot firefighter. He asked her something to the effect - So, what do you think was going through his mind, as he was being burned alive? I detest that guy!

These last few years, Chicago TV stations have somehow coerced rape victims to expose their identities on camera, using as an excuse that this will "increase awareness" or something.
One victim, I'll never forget. Facial scars, eye damage, injuries to her arms, all shown in Technicolor. I don't understand what possessed these lowlifes to ask her to go along with this.
I record the local news so I can fast-forward through their bullshit, sometimes watching only the weather report.

Maybe a newspaper or two ought to put that on their mast-head, you know, just so as not to confuse the poor slobs in the neighborhood.
