I hate offended people. They come in two flavours - huffy and whiny - and it's hard to know which is worst. The huffy ones are self-important, narcissistic authoritarians in love with the sound of their own booming disapproval, while the whiny, sparrowlike ones are so annoying and sickly and ill-equipped for life on Earth you just want to smack them round the head until they stop crying and grow up.

Thanks. We were both 17 when we went to Paris Island. I had to get my parent's signature before eI could enlist, because I wasn't 18.

I remember my Dad was eating supper when I walked in the door & handed him the papers. He looked at them, then at me, and jumped up real quick, got a pen, signed the papers & handed them back. He said, "Best damn thing that could ever happen to you boy!" Then went back to eating his supper. I was pretty much the poster child for juvenile delinquents.
