Jimbo54What gets me is that no one even read the damn thing including Trump. How can a country survive under this systemic incompetence?

You can do more than pray.
Send President Trump a short message and ask him to veto it.
https://www.whitehouse.gov/contact/ Just did. Thanks!
Well, I also asked him to veto.
Opposition to this bill does not = opposition to Trump. This bill undermines the Trump agenda.
He's signing it for more military spending... which is part of his agenda, but it undercuts his agenda in many ways. He feels like he has to go along... bummer.
"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."

mbinkyThat bill was like every other cum soaked gun control “compromise” bill the dems put up. Full of everything for the left and nothing for the right.
This bill was a “hit piece” from the RHINOS in congress and their leftist friends.

doublesharpHe is a negotiator. He got massive money for military. Keep America safe is goal ONE.
He gave up bigtime welfare money. Sucks but I'm glad to have the military funded.
Object is to win in 18 and compromise may be the best way. I wanted to see a fight but I want Trump to stay in office.

smschulzDisappointed as well.

lkdr1989I believe this is only a 6-month funding bill, which means it's going to come up again in the Fall.

What is that supposed to mean? This is funny to you?
This is the first time you've posted since last year. If this is what we can expect from you, you can leave.

heatinajeepthat's a negative there hoss.
I think it's a damn tragedy.
The more things change the more they stay the same.

nhtagmemberI am glad he got more money for the military, but disappointed the bill excludes all funding for the wall
all in all, I think it was a net loss
so much for having a majority...
and the negotiations start again and I hope its a better document next time

You missed that he would rather have Hillary Clinton as POTUS.
heatinajeep, are you all done until next year? Can't wait to see the next pithy remark from you about President Trump. Great contributions, those.

doublesharpPDJT never failed to voice his displeasure with congress. it is clear that this was a trade off. Better to fund the military and continue to be on the record as against the rest. A bitter shut down war would hurt bad in Nov.

nighthawkI don’t blame Trump, I blame the Rep and Dem assholes that wrote it. 2300 page bill, 24 hours to read and understand it. This was nothing more than a chance for the swamp to try and peel off Trump supporters, and fund a progressive agenda. Time to vote out it’s writers and supporters. I do think he sees it as a loss, and he hates to lose, in 6 months I think he won’t let this happen again, let Trump be Trump, I trust him running everything, in his first year he accomplished more than any other President in 8 years.

JALLENSome people need to come to grips with the inalterable fact that the President is not an Emperor. He can’t do anything he wants any time he wants, except by convincing the Congress to aprove it, authorize it. This has been our salvation, and our curse, over history. It is how we discourage tyranny.
Even with Trump, you do not want the President to be able to call the shots by himself.
Want to do better? Elect better Congressmen. That gets the votes, and demonstrates popular approval of those policies and actions.
Luckily, I have enough willpower to control the driving ambition that rages within me.
When you had the votes, we did things your way. Now, we have the votes and you will be doing things our way. This lesson in political reality from Lyndon B. Johnson
"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. ChicagoSigManWhen the Dems are overjoyed at Trump signing a piece of legislation, you know it's a turd.
It's amazing how bad the GOP is at politics. When they are in the minority, they complain that they have no power. When the Dems are in the minority, the GOP complains that the Dems have all the power.
Somehow, no matter where the Dems are, they can control the agenda. It doesn't help that a solid 25% of the GOP caucus are really democrats.
This is not Trump the master negotiator that I had hoped for. Increased funding for the military is great but it is not a sufficient prize for all the give-aways to the left. Count me unimpressed.

heatinajeepI voted for the current president sir and would do so again simply because it's not Hillary.
My opinion is that signing this bill isn't what one would have expected this president to do. Based on his statements RE: The swamp. With that being said, I never expected to agree with every action taken by the POTUS. This one or any.
