Is it possible that Mueller is purposely trying to egg Trump on to fire him?
I am starting to wonder that, that the Dems WANT Trump to fire Mueller so they can just pile on with screaming about Nixon and calling for impeachment and getting their base all fired up for the midterms.

What it happening in our country is mind boggling. The Deep State has been forced out of cover. I agree with an earlier comment Para made. Trump needs to sit tight, and if we hold or gain in the midterms, boot Mueller.
To do so now would be a huge mistake. The goading from Mueller might even increase, and Trump needs to hold fire. Come November, he might then have the immense satisfaction of planting his foot in Mueller's ass, and explaining to America the travesty of Mueller's attempt to impeach a duly elected president.

Geoffrey Berman, the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York, is recused from the Michael Cohen investigation, ABC News has learned.
Berman was not involved in the decision to raid Cohen's office because of the recusal, two sources familiar with the matter tell ABC News
The recusal was approved by Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein.
The raid of Cohen's office was handled by others in the office of the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York and approved by a federal judge.
Berman is a Trump appointee with ties to Rudy Giuliani who donated money to the 2016 Trump campaign.
The U.S. Attorney's office declined to comment.

A famed Harvard legal scholar is raising concerns about the Justice Department's ability to responsibly handle some documents seized Monday from Trump lawyer Michael Cohen's offices.
Among the scooped-up papers, and lurking on phones and hard drives, is likely to be a cache of material that's covered by attorney-client privilege.
Prosecutors are not permitted access to those files, and the DOJ's standard practice is to set up a 'taint team' – a group of agents and lawyers not connected to the Cohen case or the special counsel probe into all things Russia – to decide what they can see.
But 'taint teams don't work,' Alan Dershowitz told DailyMail.com on Tuesday, because seizing the material in the first place was a violation of Cohen's constitutional rights – even if it's never used in court.
Dershowitz was at the White House on Tuesday afternoon in advance of a dinner appointment with the president, according to two officials.
The concept of assembling a taint team, he said, revolves around the Fifth Amendment, which protects Americans from being forced to incriminate themselves.
So when the team sifts through Cohen's documents, hard drives and memory sticks, it will be searching for protected material that should be kept private.
But the Fourth Amendment prohibits 'unreasonable' searches and seizures by the government – a description that could apply to scooping up communications between a lawyer and his client, except in extreme circumstances.
And the Sixth Amendment guarantees Americans the right to 'the assistance of counsel' for courtroom defense, meaning no government can interfere with that relationship.
Dershowitz told DailyMail.com that 'if the government improperly seizes private or privileged material, the violation has already occurred, even if the government never uses them.'
'Remember who comprises the firewall and taint teams,' he explained, quoting in an email from what he said was a forthcoming column. It's 'other FBI agents, prosecutors and government officials who have no right under the Fourth and Sixth Amendments, even to see private or confidential materials, regardless whether it is ever used against a defendant.'
Ultimately, Dershowitz's beef may be with whichever federal judge green-lighted the DOJ's request for a search warrant covering the places where Cohen lives and works.
It's likely that the agency convinced the jurist that Cohen had documents showing evidence of a crime. But even so, the Harvard professor said, those documents could have been privately subpoenaed.

Mueller and Rosenstein might get uncomfortable once more people see those FISA warrant applications that FBI/DoJ fought so hard to hide.

I'm no expert, but I have read a number of times that the 9th circuit court of appeals is very liberal.
There are 29 judgeships in this court.
Right now there are 8 vacancies.
5 vacancies now, 2 future vacancies, and Judge Reinhardt just passed away.
The senate needs to smash Schumer's obstructionism and fill these vacancies.
I frequently disagree w Lindsey Graham, but I with him on this topic.
Graham: “It would take about one weekend” of keeping the Senate in session to break the logjam and start confirming nominees.
Why not a 24/7 work week until the Senate Democrats give up their childish practice of insisting on 30 hours of debate for every nominee no matter how lopsided the confirmation vote? Why maintain the Senate’s old tradition of deference to “home state” senators on circuit and even district court nominees when former Democratic leader Harry Reid (Nev.) took a wrecking ball to the actual rules?
They had a blank check to go fishing and anything they find will be leaked during the 2020 race not used in court. One of the most disturbing parts of this is liberals feel comfortable committing something worse than Watergate in the open.

Ryan has done good things and hacked me off at other times. I think Sessions is a gentlemen that assumes the opposition is honorable like him. That seems to be a common syndrome among Republicans.

I'm confused by this Cohen raid. First is paying someone to go away illegal? Second is it illegal for a long term friend to do it? The only way I can see a crime being committed is if it was paid from campaign funds. Is it a federal crime to cheat on your wife consensually (if that allegation is even true)?
What is Cohen and Daniels relationship to the Russian investigation, if any?
My understanding is attorney/client privilege was created to prevent this exact thing, unless Cohen actively participated in a crime with DJT.
Normally instead of the feds kicking ones door down they'd subpoena the records. Did they have some information suggesting he purchased industrial capacity shredders and incinerators that required them to raid his home, office, and hotel room in order to prevent him from destroying evidence?
Not being a lawyer or even all that bright of a guy, this all seems wrong and illegal. What am I missing?

something my wife and I just discussed- if the purported crime was the $130k payout being seen as an illegal campaign contribution as it was intended to benefit his campaign, how can they prove it? The "pussy" tape had just been released, and had no negative impact. Allegations of him with a porn star would also have no negative impact.
I am curious as to how they would quantify any benefit what so ever.

This gives them ample opportunity to leak what they may have found. They may not be able to do anything about it from a legal standpoint but can get it out there for public consumption.
Just what do you think would happen if they somehow managed to impeach Trump? You still have Pence who seems to be aligned with Trumps agenda. I think it would result in a huge backlash against the dems. They have already forgotten how many deploreables are out there.
It could be a long time before they won another election. Let Mueller continue to be frustrated and Trump just needs to continue to be President.

I think this is a backdoor way to get to Trump's tax returns. I'm sure someone will leak a snapshot of his taxes unless this attorney did not have his tax returns.
If he used a different tax lawyer, I'd hope that those documents are in a secret and secure place where the only way to obtain them is through subpoena.
I dont believe anything beyond what they were looking for can legally be made public. And illegal if leaked. Everything they take from Cohen, except what they are seeking has to be returned. Ive heard the 130 grand payment may be the incriminating part of this if Cohen committed wire or mail fraud, depending on how the funds were transferred.
