Just another Leftarded plan to gender-neutralize EVERYTHING. It’s all about their DEI bullshit. This world, and the USMC, is fucked as long as “they” stay in charge. JMHO… "If you’re a leader, you lead the way. Not just on the easy ones; you take the tough ones too…” – MAJ Richard D. Therefore, as tongues of fire lick up straw and as dry grass sinks down in the flames, so their roots will decay and their flowers blow away like dust; for they have rejected the law of the Lord Almighty and spurned the word of the Holy One of Israel." - Isaiah 5:20,24

I Deal In Lead |
When I was in Army Basic Training, the only acceptable thing to call the Drill Sargeant was "Drill Sargeant". Nothing more, nothing less.

His diet consists of black coffee, and sarcasm. |
Should I be getting worked up over this? I'm having a hard time. So they have to be addressed as Drill Instructor? Compared to the other goings-on in the military, this seems downright trivial

Here ya go... Department of the Navy Office of the Commandant United States Marine Corps For immediate distribution - All ranks. Ordered: That henceforth, the terms "ma'am" with respect to female Drill Instructors ("DIs") and "sir" with respect to male DIs will no longer be used. Recruits in training shall from this day forward refer to their respective DI with the non-gendered term "Buc-ee". Examples, without intending to be exclusive are "Yes, Buc-ee", "No, Buc-ee", and "Thank you, Buc-ee, may I have another." Furthermore, to properly identify a DI, and to drive the point home, each DI shall wear the patch, shown below, over their right nipple on the command authorized MARPAT blouse. Recruits shall be instructed to stare intently at the patch when addressing the DI, and no eye contact shall be permitted to reduce chances of fraternization and familiarity. As an offset to this emasculating policy, the use of "knife hands" during intensive instruction, and while counseling recruits is now approved for use in all commands. Note that all ranks shall continue to refer to officers with the traditional "sir" or "ma'am" as appropriate, or as best the marine rendering honors can tell. Rember, Buc-ees are the core of our Corps. Every thing that we are, comes from them. Carry on. Hooah. Semper Fidelis _______________ Big Buc-ee General, U.S. Marine Corps. That’s the only way to pay back part of that vast debt, to live up to and try to fulfill that tremendous obligation." Darth: In and of itself, it's not material to the fight. As noted above, the Army uses "Drill Instructor" as the approved term of address, and it seems to me to be sufficiently respectful, and to convey a level of anonymity to the DI. DIs are all DIs, and as a recruit, you treat them all the same, so help you God... I think the problem comes about in the aggregate, from a lack of focus. If you are focusing on DEI issues, taking command time, instruction time, and drill time to worry about things that in the end have no real bearing of the capacity to fight, then you are, by the laws of physics and time, spending less time, command attention, and focus on things that do make you a better fighter. There's also all the administrative checking of the box that goes into this kind of training. As anyone who has been in the military knows, admin time is a morale and motivation killer. Similarly, there's the kind of hopeless command climate that this stuff breeds. Everyone, from the Commandant down to the newest recruit knows in their heart of hearts that it's bullshit and being done for politics, not killing efficiency, but no one, (other than, perhaps, Terminal Lance) is allowed to say anything about it. Finally, and most importantly, if you focus on stuff like this rather than on warfighting skills, you promote people to senior leadership who focus on stuff like this rather than warfighting skills. This, coupled with the wasted training time, is where the real risk to the force arises. Senior leadership ends up mentally and emotionally incapable of the ruthless arithmetic and focus on mission needed of combat commanders. God bless our men and women who fight. May they be granted leadership worthy of their commitment. "I vowed to myself to fight against evil more completely and more wholeheartedly than I ever did before. . . . That’s the only way to pay back part of that vast debt, to live up to and try to fulfill that tremendous obligation." I recall back in the late '60s when the Army introduced their Cadre-Trainee relationship edict that basically forbid Drill Sargeants from using foul language when dealing with trainees. And yes I was one at the time. Later jumped from Army to Navy and enlisted to Officer Things have really taken a huge downturn since then. Certifiable member of the gun toting, septuagenarian, bucket list workin', crazed retiree, bald is beautiful club! USN (RET), COTEP #192
