ubelongoutsideMetal to Metal Bonding Suggestions
I'm looking for ideas on bonding a metal L bracket to the metal support pole in my basement.
This will support the front edge of a bar top that is overhanging the cabinets that are it's base at the rear side.
My initial thought was welding, but it would be overkill for this, plus a lot of pre and post work. So I'm wondering does something like JB Weld make a strong enough bond for this application?
Any other suggestions are appreciated.

kx90Personally, if there could be any sort of weight to it (ie people leaning on it, resting significant weight on it, etc.) then I would either weld it or mechanical fasten it by drilling holes through the pole.

WoodmanIf the metal was well prepared you could epoxy it. Then drill a few small holes and screw in self-tappers.

ensigmaticTypical round pole? A couple of very large hose clamps should do 'er.

dusty3030Drill and self tapping screws. Assuming we are talking about a steel structural support type pole and not a cast drain pipe.

ubelongoutsideThanks for the thoughts so far.
I had also thought about screwing it to the pole but forgot to put it in the OP.
I think I'll just wire brush the paint off where I want the bracket, drill and tap it for a couple of bolts, and JB Weld mount it and then put the bolts in.
Ensigmatic,
Along the lines of hose clamps I had actually considered a a shaft collar, but the bar top is a live edge slab, and so it angles back, away from the top, and so the shaft collar isn't thick enough to catch the bottom edge of the slab.

Yep, a steel support pole. I believe it's thicker than the ones you buy at the home stores and was mounted when the house was built.

Mars_AttacksWe use a product called Plexus at work to bond things that can't be welded.

henryaz If your posts are 1/4" thick or so, you could drill and tap holes for bolts. I do that with my 4x4 square posts that support my chain hoist beam.

PASigI would not try to epoxy or glue something that is supposed to be supporting something like that.
Drill some holes.

If you don't want to drill and tap just through drill and bolts.
