New Flag came yesterday and my son and I just swapped it:
In person, it looks much better and my wife was right, the old new Flag was too small.
Original post on Flag Day: The old flag was due for replacement so I ordered what I thought to be the same size G-spec replacement and got it wrong: It looks worse in person than in the picture. The next size up is on the way.

At least you are flying the flag! Not many are, even on today which is FLAG DAY.

Thanks for flying your flag today. Looks like that flagpole could use a 4x6.

The one in the picture is 2’4-7/16” x 4’6”; 3’6” x 6’7-3/4” is what we had and what will be here next week. 5’ x 9.5’ is the next size up and I’m guessing too big for the pole.
The old flag was a thinner nylon than this new one and would fly in a light breeze. This new one is more of a storm flag as the nylon is really heavy.

It may be small, but at least it is standing right straight out.

Rule of thumb for size of flag and pole height is length of the flag’s fly is 1/4 the height of the pole; i.e. 3’x 5’ flag is flown from a 20’ pole.
The “official sizing” (as by U.S. flag law) is flag’s hoist side x 1.9: 5’ x 9.5’. Many countries use the 1 x 2 rule: 5’ x 10’.

I guess I could go up to the next size on our flag pole too. I fly a 4x6' American and a 3x5' Wyoming flag on a 25' flag pole (no state flag on national holidays).

I just ordered new flags earlier this year, US & TX Our house had a flagpole in the front yard when we moved in, and it'll have a flag on it as long as I live here.

What is the height of your flagpole? It looks like about 16 feet.

It was 20’, but now about 18-1/2’.
We moved it from a different location with the original concrete base still attached, I buried it 6” deeper than it was and poured 6” of new concrete over the top. Over time, the sand has built up and is almost a foot over the concrete I poured. Hard to believe from the picture, but record high lake levels several years back had the water within 2’ of the pole. It’s at least 100’ to the water now.

I am thinking 5’ x 8’ If that's a 3' x 5' it is definitely too small.
